"Kaseko! There's a Searchrider!" Ellone yelled when she saw her older brother. The nineteen-turn-old turned.
"What do you mean, there's a Searchrider? From where?" He asked.
Ellone stopped. "Umm...I don't know, I ran back to tell you before I heard anything."
Kaseko sighed. "Smart one you are, Ellone."
Ellone glared at him as a brown fire lizard flew onto her shoulder. "Hello, Kelian."
Kaseko eyed the fire lizard. "Where are your other two flits, Ellone?"
As soon as he said that, two more fire lizards appeared out of between, one landing on Ellone's outstretched arm, the other flying towards Kaseko, who batted it away, annoyed.
"Why does Naoki like me so much? She's your fire lizard." He said, batting at the chirping green.
Ellone shrugged, dislodging Kelian in the process. "Dunno, Naoki's always been odd for a green." She stroked her white fire lizard, Selea. "Anyway, why don't we go see the Searchrider?"
"Oh, almost forgot about that." Kaseko batted at the happily chirping Naoki again, then gave up and let her perch on his arm.
He looked up, and saw a pair of swirling blue eyes. The brown dragon was directly in front of them.
"Hello, who are you two?" They turned, and saw the rider, smiling at them from beside his dragon.
Kaseko spoke up. "I'm Kaseko, sir. This is my sister, Ellone."
"My name's G'ran, and this is Stergroth." He said, motioning toward his dragon. "We're searching for the clutches at Tiynarea Weyr."
Kaseko frowned. "Clutches?"
"Yes, there's still a female spot open in Morjarth's clutch, and Ornath just clutched." The rider said.
Kaseko didn't know many dragons by name, so he didn't know whether these dragons were queens or greens. It didn't really matter, anyway. If he got searched, he'd be happy with whatever he got.
I think you would have a good chance of Impressing one of Ornath's children.
"What!?" Kaseko yelled. "Who said that?"
Ellone frowned at him. "What are you talking about? I didn't hear anything."
G'ran just looked at his dragon. "Why didn't you tell me he could talk to dragons?" Kaseko didn't hear the brown's answer.
G'ran turned back to the siblings. "Stergroth says you should be a candidate, Kaseko. And I'm not surprised, seeing as how you can talk to the dragons."
Kaseko gasped. "But, I never knew I could do it..."
Did you ever try?
"Well, no. But-"
Then how would you know that you could?
Ellone kept staring from her brother, to the dragon, and back to her brother. "So, Kaseko's going to be a dragonrider?"
G'ran nodded, then his eyes glazed over, listening to his dragon. Kaseko's face lit up.
G'ran sighed. "Stergroth says we may as well take both of you. After all, there is still the spot open in Morjarth's clutch."
