April 24
Today was the most amazing day for me I really surprised everyone. I am now breathing without any assistance at all. Can you believe it me breathing room air? After almost two months I finally did it. I am the awesomest baby!!!!
April 25
Well I did my very best, but I just wasn't all the way ready to breath yet. I did really good at first, but my reflux got the best of me and I kept having DSATs. My doctors decided it would be safer to put me back on nasal cannula again. This has been my second time on them so who knows maybe next time will be a charm. I have good news to though I moved to the next nursery. woo hoo!
April 27
Today I started breathing really fast and it got the doctors worried. They gave me diuretics to see if that would help. Also my hermadicrits were low and they had to give me blood. Since they had used both of my arms and legs before to put IVs in they had to go to the next place which was my head. When my mommy and daddy first saw it they were a little bit upset, but I was a big girl about it. I showed them how strong my lungs were by letting out a big cry for them, but then my mommy started crying too. She has been a little emotional lately. POOR DADDY!
April 28
I was a very big girl today. I didn't have any DSATs, bradys, or apnea. I also went up on my weight. I now weigh two pounds and eight and a half ounces. Before long I'll be three pounds! Today I had a much better day then I did yesterday.
April 29
Today when I got weighed I was up to two pounds and nine ounces. I am still on the lowest setting of oxygen and doing prettty well on it. Today I had two visitors my mommy and my Grandma Jay. My mommy held me and my Grandma sat and looked at me and talked to me. I let her know I was listening by turning my eyes to her. She was so surprised at how awake I was! My mommy was real excited too. I got to stay out and visit with them for like thirty minutes and I did real good too. No DSATs, apnea, or bradys.
April 30
Today my mommy and daddy came to see me after daddy got off work. My nurse got me out to visit them and I stayed out for over an hour. That's my new record. And when I was put back in my box I had maintained my body temperature!! Every one was like good job Aubrey. Mommy and daddy both got to hold me so I got to visit more with both of them. I stayed awake the whole time too! Hehe I was really interested in what they were saying.
May 1
Well now I am in the month of my due date so hopefully it won't be much longer before I can go home with my mommy and daddy. They have switched my feedings to every three hours instead of two now and I'm up to 22 ccs and taking it well. I lost a little bit of weight so when my mommy, Grandma Goodman, and Auntie Robin came to see me I wasn't able to be held. I also slept most of the time they were there so I don't really remember much of the visit. I was just tuckered out from staying out of my box so long last night. Things like that which seem so easy for most people are sometimes a strain for me.
May 2
Things were kinda crazy in the nursery today. They were getting ready for a new baby so all the nurses were running around and very busy. I just sit and watched them out my window. Mommy and daddy came and visited with me today. For the most part I just layed around today. I'm now up to 24 ccs on my food and weigh 1210 grams which is two pounds and ten and a half ounces. Woo Hoo! I'm really getting up there. Almost three pounds I can't wait then I'll be a big girl. Well big for me anyways.
May 11
This week has been very exciting for me. I've been picking up on my weight alot. I'm up to 1420 grams which is 3 pound and 2 ounces. My face is even starting to get chubbier. They have started bottle feeding me once a day. I'm really good at the sucking part, I just have problems swallowing and sucking at same time. I'm little bit uncordinated. I got plenty of time to figure that out though. They still have my G-tube in until I get the hang of it, but it's in my nose now instead of my mouth. That way it won't get in the way when I'm working on my bottle skills. I am up to 32 ccs of milk every feeding now. So I'll really be putting on the weight. Tomorrow is Mother's Day so my mommy and daddy are gonna come up when it's time for my daily bottle feeding so they can watch and maybe even be the ones to feed me! That will be a wonderful present for my mommy and daddy too! I am SOOO on my way to coming home. I don't know exactly when yet, but I am betting it is very soon.
oday I had my first try at a bottle. I had the sucking part down, but just couldn't get the swallowing and breathing down at the same time. I gave it a good try though.
