Setting: USS ANUBIS, Bridge

The young woman rolled her head over her shoulders in a circular motion in order to get the stiffness that had begun to take hold out. Flying the Viper-Class Interceptor had been a more physically demanding task that then ExO had expected it to be… and now that she had returned to her usual duties, the redheaded woman found that the strain she had been under had caught up with her.

"James… with your permission I would like to head down to the brig and see what our guests are doing. Maybe 1 or more of them will be in the talkative mood, but even if they aren't I think the walk will do me good." The young woman offered, glad to see a smile of understanding looking back at her from the CO's lips. Simmons had been the first of the ANUBIS crew to board a VIPER, so he knew exactly what it had been like to be in that restricted cockpit with a flight helm on your head that electronically peeked and probed your thoughts a dozen times each seconds.

"Very well… but don't get too comfortable with them. I want you back here well before we reach the outer limits of that system." The CO stated in a half amused, half deadly serious tone which left no doubt in the young woman's mind that the permission to leave the bridge had been granted with a very specific restrictions that she had better follow to the letter.

"No problems… even if I make a detour by the IGC I will be back here well before Maya finds life on either of those planets or Rawyvin finds those ships he is expecting to see attack us the moment we get in orbit." The redheaded woman said, a large grin dancing on her pink lips as she made her way off the bridge and onto the turbolift pod.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Deck 19, Brig

The journey to the ANUBIS' brig had taken no time at all, not that the young woman had wanted to waste any time following what her CO had said. Rikar had not had the time to stretch her legs after having returned to the ANUBIS and although she had claimed that she would coming here to check up on their prisoners, the true purpose of the trip had simply been for the ExO to work out the kinks out of her muscles.

"Everything is still and quiet… the only one who has been making a ruckus is the pilot of the shuttle you towed back. Everyone else is dead quiet." The imposing Capellan security officer in charge of the Brig reported, a little surprised by the unannounced arrival of the ship's ExO. As the ANUBIS' second in command the redheaded woman did not need to advertise her movements through the ship, but the muscular man would not have said no to having received advanced warning if only to straighten his uniform in order to present himself to the green-eyes beauty in a more favourable light.

"How long as he been sleeping?" The young woman inquired as she looked through the force field at the Vorta laying on the bed at the far back of his cell, his face and body facing the wall away from the cell's opening.

"Sleeping? I didn't realise that he was. Actually, if memory serv… Vortas don't sleep." Lt. JG Ektaw pointed out with amazement joining the redheaded woman at the force field keeping the Vorta from escaping. As the 2 officers watched the motionless alien, both came to the same realisation at the same time causing the ExO to reach for her sidearm while the Capellan man rushed back to deactivate the force field that stood in their way.

As the ExO carefully stepped into the cell, her weapon aimed directly at the immobile alien, the young woman reached for her tricorder… making sure that she kept as much distance between her and the target of her scans. After a few seconds, Rikar returned both her tricorder and sidearm to her belt, the condition of the Vorta having been confirmed in all of its finality.

"What did you do? Kill him?" The unexpected voice of the CEO reached into the small room causing the young woman to jump from freight.

"I didn't kill him… he must have used some sort of termination implant that we missed. Initial bios cans had not revealed any traces of such a device… but obviously we missed it." The ExO explained adding a lengthy sigh as she met the engineer's eyes with her own.

"I really don't get it. Why would they want to kill themselves for those arrogant spineless shape shifting blobs?" The CEO inquired out loud not truly expecting anyone to offer an answer… but then again the young woman he had been speaking to had never been one to leave a question unanswered if she could help it.

"Because to the Vorta the Founders are not just another race, or even their masters… the Founders are their *gods*." Sabrina pointed out, sure that she had mentioned something that David had been aware of.

"The Founders are no *gods*… and if they had not believed in their own blasted superiority over everyone else the entire Dominion war would have never happened." The CEO said, obviously not feeling a shred of sorrow for the suicide of the Vorta who laid on the rigid bed at the back of the cell he had been confined in.

"I am not trying to defend the Founders… but try to look at it from the Vorta's point of view. Now only did the Founders *create* them… as any self-respecting deity should, but the Founders also genetically engineered the entire race to be single-minded devoted servants who have but one goal in life… to serve their gods." The redheaded woman explained using some of her expertise and knowledge of exo-psychology and genetics which she had picked up during her time as a Cns and CSciO respectively.

"Doesn't change a thing… as far as I am concerned the Founders, the Vorta and all of the other genetically engineered puppets should go back to the Gamma Quadrant to never be heard of again." David announced in a way the clearly indicated that he strongly believed in this issue.

"I doubt that you came all the way here to discuss the Founders and their followers." The ExO pointed out, thinking it best to change the subject before the discussion became too heated.

"I found something while giving the Romulan frigate a thorough inspection… and I thought that you might be interested in seeing it." David offered, apparently not willing to give the young woman any details about this discovery he had made. Looking into the towering CEO's eyes, the ExO understood without any words having been spoken that if she wanted to know what he had been talking about… she would have to follow him to Shuttle Bay 1 and see this amazing find with her own eyes. David knew her well, and he figured that teasing her insatiable curiosity even as little as he had would insure that the young woman would follow him back to the Romulan ship where he would present her with what he had discovered.
