Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Section A, Level 6, Administrative Wing Waiting Room
Ensign Doratheva sat in 1 of the comfortable chairs that lined the wall
as she waited to speak to the base's flag officer… Admiral Charles Koneki.
Cmdr. Du'Kim had informed Eva that she needed to see the Admiral
immediately upon their arrival… so the ensign had not had the chance to see any other part of the secret base of operations other than the docking corridors, the pods that seemed to take forever to get here… and finally this room.
"Are you certain that I cannot get you something to drink? I could
order you a fresh cup of Iced Mocha from the base's cafeteria, or if you are
hungry I could get a plate of Andorian Palaau brought up while you
wait." Allyson offered, sounding as sweet and caring as ever. The
receptionist for the administrative section of the NEW ALEXANDRIA had tried everything to make Eva's wait be as pleasant as possible… and something about that kindness just rubbed the half Edo, half Betazoid woman the wrong way.
Several minor points bugged Eva… the first being that she had never met
*anyone* so willing to do *something* to please *someone*… the second
was that the Edo/Betazoid hybrid had been absolutely unable to sense
anything from the receptionist and third… that smile. There had been something just creepy about the way the woman never stopped smiling as if paid by the seconds she could show those rounded rosy cheeks. Above and beyond all
of these point had been another issue… the one that troubled the Security
and Intel trained officer… the receptionist's display of personal knowledge
in what Eva liked. True this was an Intel base, but the Ensign still
found it a little unnerving to have the base's *receptionist* come across as
knowing *everything* about the new officer on the block.
"I'm fine… wouldn't want to have my mouth full when the Admiral asks to
see me." Eva confirmed for the Nth time, finding Allyson's perseverance
increasingly annoying… but snapping at the Admiral's aid would not have
been a smart career move… so the Edo/Betazoid flashed back a smile and
diverted her attention to 1 of the many Egyptian artefacts that were on display in the room.
=/\= Allyson… please show our guest in. =/\= The voice of a
distinguished, and obviously older man was heard, the speed at which the receptionist reacted making it clear to Eva that the voice had belonged to none other than the Admiral himself.

Eva stepped through the door and was instantly stunned by the décor of
the room. Had she not known better the Edo/Betazoid woman would have sworn
that she had entered into a museum… one with a distinct fixation on the
Egyptian era of ancient EARTH. The ensign took a step forward, allowing the
doors to close behind her and faced the man sitting behind the large black
marbled desk… Eva's eyes occasionally drifting up to the 3 huge statues
position directly behind the flag officer.
"Ensign Doratheva reporting as requested, sir." The half Edo, half
Betazoid offered, thinking that there had been no reason for her to be anything else but absolutely proper in front of the Admiral.
"Welcome to NEW ALEXANDRIA Ensign… I gather that you have had time to
familiarize yourself with the ANUBIS and her systems?" The older man
inquired, the way that the question had been presented coming across as
having been purely rhetorical.
"Yes, sir." Eva replied, humouring the Admiral for the time being. The
hybrid had a slew of questions that she had wanted to ask, but now had
neither been the time or place.
"Good… you are welcome to enjoy what this base as to offer while you
wait for the ANUBIS' return from her current mission. I am certain that you
will find your role as Assistant Chief of Security most challenging. If you
have any questions, please make a list and present it to Cmdr. Du'Kim or
Allyson… both will do their utmost to help you in whatever areas you may need
help with." Koneki announced before returning his attention to the pile of
PADDs that had been in front of him on his desk. Although he had not said
so, Eva could tell that she had been dismissed and that this had been it… she
had been welcomed aboard the base… now all that she needed to do was to
wait for the ANUBIS to arrive.
