"Quiet Contemplation"

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Sickbay
Pondering the ILOs strange visit, Lea went back to
work on her report. There wasn't much to report in her
absense. The EMH not having too many problems, but one
still remained. Her concentration was off and her
thoughts drifted to one person in particular.
"David... where *are* you?" she whispered quietly. Lea
shook her head. She saw so much potential in the
former CEO... a relationship... some form... had
formed between them and it seemed to her that the more
she wanted things to advance, there was something that
stopped her dead in her tracks. But this time,
Jordan's death and the escape of his murderers was the
biggest blow of them all. David... from what she
heard, was *extremly* pissed when Enaii pulled the plug
on the mission... so much so that he dented the rear
quarter panel of the shuttle that took them off the
TANGIERS. She had heard about him doing the same thing
to one of the holodeck doors, but actually feeling the
impact and the shuttle shifting forward made her glad
she wasn't on the end of David's fist. The hiss of the
doors to her domain brought her back to attention and
when she looked up...
"No such luck?" the CMO said as Serenna frowned.
"How the hell can one as *large* as David hide so
easily?!"
"Borrowing your own words Commander" Susan added, "he
does know the ANUBIS like the back on his hand."
"So how do we find him?" Lea asked.
"We might not be able to... but I know someone who
might." Serenna replied.

With tears streaming down her cheeks, Lieutenant
Commander Maya wailed as the ExO tried to calm her.
"Maya... Enaii didn't mean what she said. I'm sure she
meant her comment in the best terms."
"But she said my shapeshifting abilities were flawed" Maya
sobbed as Sabrina shook her head. The lift doors
opened as she glanced over her shoulder.
"What's her problem?" Serenna asked.
"Enaii" Sabrina said through clenched teeth as Susan
went to the Shillian's side. Sabrina looked at the COO.
"No luck?" she asked not needing to because she knew.
"We've been over every inch of this ship Commander"
Serenna said hotly, "and its like he isn't here."
"Stupid question, but has anyone tried..."
"A internal ship scan would be asinine because David
could hide around that." Serenna said.
"Has anyone tried the holodeck?" Lea asked.
Sabrina sighed and tapped her badge.
"Computer... locate Lieutenant Dawson."

Serenna looked at the ExO. "Only his comm badge
Commander."
"Well... one way to find out."

It was dark as the former CEO sat and stared into the
darkness. It was inviting... welcoming... warming... as
he watched the stars streak by as the ANUBIS headed
home. They were so close he could still smell them. He
could see them... and now... they were gone.
Dammit... how could he let them slip away?! The 2 men
who were now his sworn enemy got away. And then there
was the 'thorn'...
"Enaii" David growled as he stood up and paced. He
understood the logic... the ANUBIS' crew's cover was
blown. She needed to get them out... but right when he
was about to get his hands on those bastards... his
door chimed.
He grunted and went to open the door. When the door
opened Sabrina, Serenna, Lea, and Susan fell to the
floor at David's feet.
"Guess this is my *unlucky* day" David said as he
turned into the dark.
"David" Serenna said as she scrambled from the pile,
"where have you been?"
"None of your damned business" David said hotly.
"David" Susan said, "we're only concerned..."
"Get. Out." David replied.
"Lieutenant" Sabrina said sternly.
"*That* goes for you too Commander" David replied as
he glared at the ExO.
Sabrina met the CEOs gaze. She turned to the other
ladies.
"Give us a minute." she said as they turned to leave.
David went to usher Sabrina out as well.
"I said..."
"So... take your anger out on me huh?" Sabrina asked,
"just because she's my wife you're pissed at me?"
**How did...** David thought, "No... that isn't it at
all. I *don't* wanna be bothered. I don't wanna
talk... I don't wanna share... I don't wanna express my
feelings... I don't want anything."
"Why do this to yourself?" Sabrina asked, "where
there's so many people that care about you...."
"Care? CARE?!" David snapped, "a joke... well... I got
one even better for you... lights"
The lights came on in David's quarters and Sabrina's
jaw hit the floor. David's quarters was completely
packed up. Sabrina looked around and then to David...
"I... I mean... are you..."
He handed her a padd. "As *soon* as we get back to
that floating rock in space I'm done."
Sabrina scanned the padd. "David... don't you think
this is a hasty decision?"
"No... its probably the best one I've ever made. I have
no job. I have no family. My brother is *dead!*
*AND*... the 'coup de grace'... the wife of the only woman I've
ever truly loved let his murderers escape?! To
hell with this ship *and* everything about it! Now..."
and David was shaking, "leave..." and he turned and
walked into this bedroom. The door closed behind him
as Sabrina stood there speechless. Has the move to NEW
ALEXANDRIA been too much for David? How could she not
see the signs? Were they're any for that matter? And
now that she thought about it...
"You can't leave me," she whispered as she stared at
his door...
