"Something A Little More Quiet"

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Corridor
Stardate: 60326.1030
Uxtar and Nico walked out of the training room looking refreshed from their workout. Anyone else would have crawled out after such an intensive workout but the Hirogen and Nausicaan appeared ready for more at least that had been the impression they gave to the short Ensign who had been waiting for them.
"Where is Ensign Mei?" The taller of the two warriors asked sounding disappointed. Nico had not meant to but because of his being able to so easily tower over the CMO, he had managed to make her feel very small. Luckily for Lea she had some experience in dealing with larger and taller people like David and Elan.
"She had to attend to other matters," Ensign Summers replied. "Ship business," Lea added as an after thought so as to not make Nico or Uxtar believe that the Cns had wanted to get away from them.
"Then would you be so kind as to extend our appreciations to her for having taken the time to showing us around your ship," Nico said. The overly polite tone of the warrior took Lea by surprise. Had she been blindfolded there would not have been any way for her to know that it had been a Nausicaan who had spoken.
"I will," the CMO said with a smile, "but that doesn't mean that you are off the hook."
"Off the hook?" Uxtar repeated tilting his head to one side.
"It is standard procedure for the ship's CMO to evaluate the physical state of everyone who comes onboard," Lea said with an almost evil grin. "Now that you two have done your workout I would like to perform some basic scans. Don't worry, I promise that nothing I will do will hurt."
"You better do as she says," Pravat said jokingly, the MCO having stepped out into the corridor just in time to hear the last part of the conversation.
Nico and Uxtar glanced at one another accepting the CMO's last words as what they had likely been meant to be, a dare to have them follow instead of finding an excuse to avoid the medical exam. Since they were guests on this ship, the Hirogen and Nausicaan saw no cause to refuse especially when considering that a trip to sickbay would give them the chance to see their CO and his progress.

Setting: USS ANUBIS, Sickbay
Stardate: 60326.1040
"How are you doing Captain?" Uxtar asked the moment he and Nico stepped into Sickbay. Captain Arlington had not moved from the bed that he had been on the last time they had seen him, not that either warrior had expected there to be any changes.
"I'm doing all right," Arlington replied glaring at the CMO, "but I will be doing a lot better when I can get out of here. It doesn't matter what ship you are on, Doctors are always over protective of their patient."
"Maybe so," Lea said as she walked between the two towering alien. "But it is my experience that all ship's captains have a nasty habit of believing themselves to be indestructible. So it balances out."
After this little exchange Lea escorted Nico and Uxtar to two vacant beds and began running the tests that she had spoken of before.
