Setting: USS HATHOR, Mess Hall
Stardate: 60340.1115

David had better things to do with his time than to deal with an emotional CMO. But being the ship's ExO meant that the crew's wellbeing was his responsibility. That said, David did not seem to mind all that much having been able to spend some time with Lea. Likewise the CMO had immediately felt better the moment David had taken her hand.

Since his almost court-martial and the following near-death experience David had been a different man. Lea could sense the calmness in the man, something that she greatly liked. The explosive temper of the ANUBIS' CEO had become legendary. It had also served to keep Lea and several others on their toes. Unlike Elan who would rather jump out the nearest airlock than hurt anyone, David allowed his temper to rule. Maybe this had all been because of the influence of Richard. Maybe this change had been caused by David having faced his own mortality. Whatever the reason had been, Lea liked the outcome which had made the CEO that much more attractive.

"Can I get you something?" David asked, being the perfect gentleman and pulling a chair away from the table.

Lea smiled. Maybe this mission would not be so bad after all. "Actually I wouldn't mind a glass of orange juice," Lea replied. The moment the CMO had sat down though she turned to the departing ExO and added, "and a hot compress for my neck. It feels like Uxtar used it to sharpen his teeth."

David stood there baffled for a moment. The orange juice would be easy, but the hot compress might prove to be a challenge. The replicators on the HATHOR had been programmed with the bare basic. The ship had not been designed for luxury and David had realised this long ago. So instead of taking his chances with the replicator, David thought of something else and returned to Lea.

Before the CMO could realise that her escort had returned empty-handed, David had placed his massive hands on her shoulders. Lea's surprise at the unexpected touch quickly gave way to ecstasy as David massaged the CMO's neck.

Lea closed her eyes and abandoned herself to the sensation of having her shoulders and neck massaged. No amount of muscle relaxant or hot compresses would be able to match the sensation she had experiencing. The CMO quickly melded into her chair as David's hands performed their magic.

Lea had been so out of it that she did not hear the announcement made by Uxtar about the upcoming drills. The CMO had *heard* the voice of the Hirogen over the comm channel but Lea had not been able to make out what he had said. Lea had been oblivious to the fact the lights had gone out because her eyes had been closed. The CMO had been so relaxed that she had not even realised that David had stopped massaging her shoulders and neck. Instead, Lea assumed that the feeling of light-headedness had been caused by her being in a state of complete relaxation.

"Lea?" David called out, hoping that the CMO would open her eyes. After repeated attempts to get the woman's attention lea finally opened her eyes. What she saw was near complete darkness which instantly scared the CMO back into reality.

"David! What's happening?" Lea demanded in a frenzy, only now realising that something was truly wrong.

"Well," David giggled, "for starters you are floating in mid air. My guess is that our friend Uxtar turned the artificial gravity off in this section of the ship." The CEO had not been any better in dealing with the weightlessness, but at least he had prepared himself after the announcement. "Just relax, my people will have things back in order in no time."

Lea had been ready to let out a volley of obscenities directed at the HATHOR's Chief of Security when gravity was restored. This of course caused the CMO to fall uncontrollably back down in a less than graceful way. Luckily for Lea, David had been both in the right place at the right time to catch the CMO.

Stunned by the sudden return of gravity and her finding herself in the arms of the ExO, Lea smiled. "Maybe you can put me down?" The CMO asked after gazing into the eyes of the engineering for several seconds.

"Sorry," David apologised, carefully lowering the CMO down to her feet. "I'd better get back to Engineering to make sure everything is all right," the CEO nervously said. Apparently David had been as surprise as Lea, and this had left him unable to say anything more. Instead of trying, the engineer just exited the Mess Hall thankful for the efficiency of his people.
