Setting: USS HATHOR, Bridge
Sitting on the bridge as the two ships pressed on
deeper into Cardassian space the Romulan/Terran hybrid
could almost feel the presence of the ANUBIS' ILO grow
stronger as they drew closer to SURIAL III. Knowing
that this had been nothing more than a trick being
played on her by her own mind, the HATHOR's CO still
found t interesting that she could both admire and
despite the same woman because of who she had been.
Remembering Enaii and the way she carried herself
when in public, it had been easy to see that her
Romulan upbringing had shaped the person that she had
become which meant that the ILO and CO of the HATHOR
shared a great many things in common. Looking beyond
those similarities though made the Romulan/Terran
hybrid pass an unfavourable judgement on the Intel
Operative who seemed more than happy to embrace the
ideals that Serenna had long ago learned to despise.
Accepting that they were as opposites as could be, the
hybrid still found it within her being to wish for
this part of their mission to be successful and to see
the ILO return to them safe and sound, even if this
meant that her daughter Talia would grow up to be more
like the people the CO had grown to loathed.
Turning to see who had arrived on the bridge of her
ship, the curiosity of the Romulan/Terran hybrid was
received by the grinning XO/CEO, Lt. David Dawson who
stood at the back of the bridge scratching his bald
head for a moment. "You know maybe I should go back
to Main engineering and get a laser torch or a
pry-bar."
Raising an eyebrow, the HATHOR's CO looked back at
her First Officer with puzzlement trying to figure out
what had triggered his comment. Seeing the apparent
confusion on the CO's face the XO grinned and moved
closer making sure to delay as much as possible
explaining what he had meant through his comment.
Passing by the Engineering station on his way to the
central chair, the XO/CEO noticed that the cloaking
device of the HATHOR had not yet been reactivated even
though several hours ago the engineer had reported it
to be fully operational. "Do you think it is wise for
us to be gallivanting through Cardassian space like
this?"
Appearing unimpressed by the efforts of her First
Officer to change the subject onto another matter the
Romulan/Terran hybrid was quick to reply to her XO's
question. "With the engines of the ANUBIS working at
near full power we are able to divert all available
power to propulsion which has brought us less than
four hours away from SURIAL III. If there is
something out there, I have confidence that the ANUBIS
will let us know well before they can detect us. Now
what was it you wanted to do with a *pry-bar*?"
Laughing at the insistence of the CO, Dawson
approached the central chair and came to stand right
next to the sitting Romulan/Terran hybrid. "Since you
where sitting there when I left and were still sitting
here when I came back, I thought that maybe you'd need
a little extra something to get you out of that chair.
It was either that of get Lea to come up and
surgically separate the two of you."
Looking actually happy to see that her Academy
classmate had managed to hold on to his sense of
humour despite all that they had so far faced, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid dismissed the XO/CEO back to his
station with a wave of her hand. "Your concerns for
the well being of my posterior is greatly appreciated
Number One, but I can assure you that it and me are
both doing fine where we are and that you will have to
find another excuse to bring the good Doctor to come
to the bridge and join you, even if only for a few
moments."
Bringing his massive hands to rest on his broad
chest, the XO/CEO tried his best to portray what the
Romulan/Terran hybrid could only guess had been meant
to be shock. Knowing that dramatic acting had not
been one of the prerequisites for the Engineering
major back at the Academy had made the scene that much
more amusing to the HATHOR's CO as she listened to
Dawson's mock surprise. "Captain, your words wound
me. I could abuse my power as XO to bring our CMO
here for personal purposes anymore than you could jump
out of your seat and stand on your own two legs."
Placing her hands on the armrests of her chair, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid had been a split second away
from proving her point when she realized that this had
been nothing more than a trick concocted by the XO/CEO
to get her out of the central chair. Easing herself
back slowly, the hybrid grimaced at her friend and
former classmate. "Well done Number One, you almost
won that exchange which I must admit you handled with
the tact of a Romulan."
Tilting his head slightly to one side, Dawson glared
at the still sitting Romulan/Terran hybrid in a way
that had only been acceptable because the two of them
had been friends long before the hybrid had been
elevated to a higher rank and position than him.
"Thanks, I think. I might have to speak to Susan
about this though since I am not sure if I have just
been complimented or utterly insulted."
Ignoring her First Officer the Romulan/Terran hybrid
reached for a small control panel on her armrest and
activated the ship-wide comm. System. "All senior
staff members are to report to the bridge in half an
hour for final mission briefing."
Grinning at the apparent evilness of their CO, the
XO/CEO said nothing more and simply made his way back
to the Engineering Station happy that the two of them
were on the same side of whatever battle waited for
them out there between the stars.
