"Some People Were Never Meant to be up This Early"

Setting: USS HATHOR, Summer's Quarters
Stardate: 60342.0445

First Serenna's ship-wide *wakeup* call had made Lea's blood pressure shoot through the roof. Next the CMO's body connected hard with the floor of her quarters as she tried to get out of bed. Even the bed sheets it seemed had not wanted Lea to leave. Had it not been for the orders of their CO, the CMO would have been more than happy to accommodate.

With a bruised knee and a shortness of breath, Lea had finally gotten out of bed only to run into the wall. In her half dazed state the CMO had thought she was in her quarters on the ANUBIS. These were, aside from being much larger, oriented differently, placing walls where none should have been.

So with a sore wrist, bruised knee and feeling more disoriented than ever before Lea had been able to freshen up. For all that Serenna had put her through; Lea had half a mind to show her just what the CO had done. True Serenna had not been the one to hold her ankle in bed or shift the walls around but still Lea needed to have someone held responsible.

On her way out of her quarters Lea tripped over the bed sheets that had been left on the floor. Had the CMO not still been under the daze from having been woken up so early Lea might have avoided the fall. Unfortunately with her bruised knee her balance had already been less than perfect. So the floor of her quarters welcomed the CMO once again with its full hardness.

Setting: USS HATHOR, Bridge
Stardate: 60342.0450

Five minutes, two bruised knees and one sore wrist later the CMO finally arrived on the bridge. Looking at Lea everyone present wondered what matter of beast the woman had met during her journey. Of course the CMO had not been in the mood to give any sort of detailed explanation. Either she had been a complete cluts or the HATHOR had decided to seek revenge on her for something that she knew nothing about. Faced with those two possibilities, Lea thought it best to remain silent.

The CMO could see the questions forming in David's head but luckily something happened to divert everyone's attention. Lea had not noticed that both Derek and Susan had been missing from the bridge when she had come in. That omission was made evident when the two of them walked in together.

Now being as good of friends as the two of them were, Lea immediately picked up on Susan's demeanour. There was something about the way she stood that had been not like the usual. Curious to see if the Cns had suffered as rough of a morning as she had, Lea leaned in closer. "Had problems waking up this morning?" the CMO asked in a whispered voice.

Susan instantly became nervous as if she had been caught redheaded doing something she should not have. "No! Why do you ask?" the Cns replied almost in a panic.

"I was just wondering. I had a fight with my quarters this morning," Lea said, "and I lost multiple rounds. You just looked like you had problems yourself, you look a little tired."

Susan's eyes darted all over the bridge before stopping on her friend. "I just didn't sleep very much last night," the Cns said vaguely before walking away. Lea just stood there and watched as her friend walked away. Something had happened but for some reason Susan had decided not to talk about it. Why the CMO did not know but Lea had every intention of pursuing this matter at a later date.

As she walked past the security station and Uxtar, the Sec/Tac pulled the CMO closer. "If you want to know what happened, you might want to ask Derek," Uxtar whispered.

"Derek?" Lea said looking at the FCO, "why him?"

Uxtar smiled as only a Hirogen could. "Internal scanners showed them coming out of his quarters," the Sec/Tac said adding a timely pause. "Together."

Lea's eyes opened to their widest as she turned her head to look at Susan. Now it had been more than plausible that the Cns and FCO had been doing nothing more than talking. After all that was what Susan's job description entailed, for her to listen while others talked. On the other hand the CMO knew the effect that stress and near death experiences could have on people. Could it have been possible that her friend had sought the comfort of a man? Could Susan have forsaken her professionalism for a brief period of time?

There had been no way for Lea to know at that time but the CMO had now something to keep her mind busy. She would watch Susan and Derek very closely and try to see what had developed between them. If anything, before confronting her friend with whatever findings Lea would have uncovered.
