Setting: NEW ALEXANDRIA, Observation Deck
Looking down at the small silhouette of the HATHOR as
it stood docked next to the ANUBIS, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid could not help but feel a sense of loss.
Following her meeting and debriefing with Admiral
Koniki, Serena had been informed that her duties and
responsibilities as a CO had come to an end. Pointing
out that this had not been a demotion, the Admiral had
congratulated the hybrid on a job well done and even
went as far as to suggest that CAPT. Rikar would be
more than pleased to have her back as her XO.
Being the XO of the USS ANUBIS held a certain level
of prestige and admiration for the Romulan/Terran
hybrid, yet after having held the reins of command for
the time she had, returning to the First Officer's
position had proven to be more difficult than she had
expected. Yet, thinking about the people with whom
she would once again be working with, the hybrid found
the decision reached by the Admiral to be more than
acceptable and maybe even *logical*.
Thinking of the HATHOR's FCO and his part-time
*logical* ways, the Romulan/Terran hybrid grinned for
only a few seconds inwardly wondering if she had not
spent a little too much time near Ensign Stormwind.
Dealing with the other hybrid had proven to be
somewhat of a challenge for Serenna, the Vulcan half
of his parental heritage reminding the woman of her
own split lineage and of the burden that it had created.
Joining his former Academy classmate, the former
XO/CEO of the USS HATHOR took the Romulan/Terran
hybrid out of her deep thoughts by walking up right
next to her and looking at the ship that they had both
just served on. Crossing his arms over his massive
chest, the Engineering sighed before speaking to the
hybrid. "So, what's next Captain?"
Remembering the words said by Admiral Koniki to her, the Romulan/Terran hybrid shifted her gaze away from the HATHOR and locked it onto the ANUBIS before she replied. "It's Lt Cmdr now, nothing more, nothing less. Admiral Koniki wants the senior staff of the ANUBIS, or more precisely its CO and XO, to be experienced officers due to the fact that there will be several new additions to the crew for our next mission."
Smiling the towering Engineer gently nudged the
hybrid with his elbow, "Good, I was afraid that I was
the only one who had been told to get back to his old
job, plus you and I both know that it will be nice to
be back on *our* ship in *our* respective positions.
As far as I am concerned, you can keep the XO spot all
to yourself."
Glaring up at her Academy classmate, the Romulan/Terran hybrid studied for a few seconds the expression on the man's face before offering any sort of reply to what he had said. "You are just happy that they didn't drum you out of the Engineering corp."
Trying his best to appear as serious as possible,
David focussed on the outer hull of the ANUBIS and
ignored the piercing eyes of the hybrid standing right
next to him. "Maybe, or maybe I am just happy to be
back on a ship where I won't be hitting my head on
each and every ceiling support beam. As nice as the
HATHOR might have been, that ship was made for
*smaller* people."
Crossing her arms over her chest, the Romulan/Terran
hybrid huffed back at the Engineer, "David, *everyone*
is smaller when compared to you, so that description
does not fit."
Grinning back to his Academy classmate the tall man
shook his head and pointed out the error in the
statement made by the Romulan/Terran hybrid. "There
is at least *one* officer that is *larger* than me,
and as much as I admire him I will be happy when I
return to the ANUBIS and my duties back from him."
Referring to the Oltharian Engineer who had been on
the ANUBIS during their last mission, the
Romulan/Terran hybrid thought about the loss that he
had suffered. Having read the report on Annie the
hybrid could not even begin to imagine how Elan felt
after having witnessed his own creation give her
*life* to save that of the ILO who had yet to regain
consciousness.
Seeing the silence that had developed between them as
a sign, the reinstated CEO of the USS ANUBIS decided
to take care of a few items here on the station before
returning to the ship and supervising the repair
efforts to *his* ship. "Well I'd better be off; I
have people to see and things to do."
Watching the imposing Engineer literally bouncing
down the corridor leading away from the observation
platform, the Romulan/Terran hybrid could not help but
think that David had been a little *too* happy about
having been returned to being a mere CEO instead of
holding the dual responsibilities that he had been
shouldering over the last mission. Thinking that
maybe her Academy classmate had the right idea, that
of accepting what had happened without giving it too
much thoughts, the hybrid made a mental list of what
she needed to do as the ANUBIS's XO.
