Mayoke closed her eyes again, reaching out and touching Kuuki's forehead with a silver claw. A spark of lightning cut through the white dragon and she felt herself being drawn inward and down, a very curious sensation. Images from her past welled up, flashes of Venia, the battles she'd been in, friends she'd lost...After a moment's time of the most painful memories she was sure she had, Kuuki cried out "Enough!" The contact was broken, and Kuuki slumped to the ground. Mayoke stared with her wide, silver eyes and murmured quietly. "She will go to a place called Ryslen, these are the coordinates." Kokuuzou and Mayoke conferred while the air mage gathered her strength on the ground.
"Come Kuuki, it is your turn." he said, nudging her with his muzzle. Why had Mayoke's reading been so draining? Had it been like that for the others? She wouldn't know that any time soon, they had all been sent to distant places. She would never even know if they had made it. Standing tremulously, Kuuki looked Kokuuzou in the eye. "Are you ready?" he asked, sitting back on his haunches with foreclaws held upwards in preperation for the spell. She nodded, "As ready as I'll ever be..." Mayoke took a few steps back absently, and a brief wonder of how she would know where to go before Kokuuzou's deep voice filled her ears. His claws moved in their intracate patterns, defining the spell. A sudden image filled her mind of a castle-like place. She caught a glimpse of a bellowing red beast before an all-consuming blackness filled her mind, eyes, heart and spirit.
The journey was not easy, Kokuuzou had never told them about the void itself, an expanse of dark, cold, unfeeling space that never seemed to end. Kuuki opened her mouth to bellow but no sound reached her ears. At last she felt warm sun hit her and she opened eyes she didn't know were closed. She was in the air! A bugle of joy erupted from her throat as she fell. Only a last minute instinct told her to open her wings, her claws moving in a similar way to Kokuuzou's to call up a thermal to help her gain altitude.
Another voice from the ground caught Kuuki's attention, it was the red beast - no, the red dragon - she had seen bellowing in the vision before the void had taken her. A strong voice entered her mind, Where do you hail from? How could she respond? Would these people and dragons know the place? Finally she answered, deciding to go with the truth. "I am from a place called Aether." This seemed to satisfy the red dragon, for he nodded and turned his attention elsewhere. What had she expected, armies, arrows, warriors rushing out to meet her? She spiraled down as she saw other dragon's doing and landed in a paddock full of whistling, bird-like beasts. As soon as her feet touched down, she shifted to her human form, figuring it would be easier to move around in.
"Now, if I were a weapon, where would I be?" she wondered, gazing about at the other dragons. Who are you? A new voice interrupted her thoughts, belonging to a blue who currently had his mouth full with one of the bird-creatures. "Me?" she asked, looking to her left and right. No, the wherry over there, of course you! The blue's eyes spun a rapid blue-green color in mirth as he finished the wherry, as he called it, and went to rinse away the blood in a nearby lake. "Oh, I am Kuuki, of Air." she responded, still glancing in a slightly nervous way around. Hello, Kuuki of Air, I am Okserth. Welcome to Ryslen! What does the "of Air" part of your name stand for? Okserth asked kindly. "It is a title, I am an air mage...most just call me Kuuki, you can if you wish."
The blue nodded but continued to eye her curiously. She was about to say her good-byes when he spoke again. Tell me, Kuuki, are you perchance bonded to a dragon? Kuuki didn't really know what he meant by bonded. Was it a common thing at this place? As she didn't have a way to fool him into thinking she was, Kuuki shook her head and said, "No, I am not." What she could have surmised was a smile crossed Okserth's face. Then you are in luck, there are many clutches upon the sands for you to have your try at! He quickly escorted her to a huge place where three dragon mothers tended clutches of eggs. He spoke with a few different humans, one who beamed up at her constantly. You are signed up! Go on and have a look around, you should familiarize yourself with Ryslen. Okserth took off then, flying up the nidus wall and dissappearing.
Kuuki, being naturally curious, did explore and soon found herself in a smaller room off the side of the huge sands. It appeared to be a smaller version of the sands, with smaller, shimmering versions of the dragons guarding a clutch. "And what kind of dragons are you?" she asked the little red and darker red creatures. We are Lian mini dragons. I am Dyneale, that is Aymile. We are guarding this clutch of Lian eggs. Would you like to sign up to bond one? the darker red asked. His lighter red fellow nodded vigorously. "Oh, I'm sorry...I've already signed up for the other dragon's clutch..." Kuuki started, but Dyneale cut in. You can sign up for both, they most likely will not hatch at the same time. Thinking, Kuuki watched the shimmering dragons. How could she pass up the chance to bring home not one but two of these magnificent beasts?
"I will sign up to bond one of your...children, is it?" she asked, a smirk tilting at the corners of her mouth. Both Lians chuckled. They are not ours by blood, but maybe a little since we are caring for them. the garnet said, still laughing. Kuuki laughed too, mostly because she was pleased to be hopefully bringing home two powerful creatures to push back Atrox.
