Some of the more frequently used terms in PeaceMaker Kurogane...
Bakumatsu - the last years of the Shogunate government and the period of time the series was set in.
Chibi - small/short person, usually used to describe children.
Choushuu - the name of the opposing faction
Fukuchou - the second in command. In this case there are two : Hijikata and Yamanami.
Fukuchou Jokin - the supporters of the Fukuchou
Gomen nasai - Sorry. The more childish form of 'Sumimasen', which also means sorry. Note that Souji uses this much more than 'Sumimasen'.
Hitokiri - Assassin samurai
Katana - Japanese sword
Kenkaku - Swordsman
Kurogane - the kanji for steel/iron. Also pronounced as 'tetsu' in the case of Tetsunosuke's name.
Kyoukuchou - head of the organisation, in this case, Kondou.
Meiji - the period after the Bakumatsu, when the Emperor was in power.
Miburo - refers to the Shinsengumi. Direct translation: Wolves of Mibu.
Oni - Demon.
Oni no ko - 'child of a demon'. Okita refers to himself as this.
Ronin - Masterless samurai
Sashinryo - sword set
Sensei - teacher
Seppuku - Honour suicide. It involves the slitting of the abdomen.
Shinobi - Another name for the ninjas. In the series, Yamazaki is our good-guy shinobi =)
Soroban - abacus
Sumimasen - the more mature form of 'Sorry'.
Tennen-Rishin Ryu - the swordfighting style used by the Shinsengumi.
Tonsho - Shinsengumi headquarters
Wakizashi - Japanese short sword
