If you go around to any of
the major rallies, or even a weekend campout/rally hosted by a motorcycle
club, you're likely to encounter bikes you'd NEVER see tooling along Main
Street in your home town. These photos from the 80s and 90s show,
I think, some great inspirations in motorcycle redesign and re-engineering.
The owners of these bikes didn't (in most cases) have "kits" to make these
bikes, nor would you likely see more than one of these on the road (unless
the fabricator made more). The makers just took an old bike and went
nuts on their drawing boards (no, there weren't any CAD programs available).
