MOTORCYCLE TOURING PHOTOS
Bikes and Trailers

If you go around to any of the major rallies, or even a weekend campout/rally hosted by a motorcycle club, you're likely to encounter bikes you'd NEVER see tooling along Main Street in your home town. These photos from the 80s and 90s show, I think, some great inspirations in motorcycle redesign and re-engineering. The owners of these bikes didn't (in most cases) have "kits" to make these bikes, nor would you likely see more than one of these on the road (unless the fabricator made more). The makers just took an old bike and went nuts on their drawing boards (no, there weren't any CAD programs available).

Trikes:

You've probably seen the Gold Wing trikes - made from kits, designed for GL1500 Wings. Well, these photos show how trike bikes were made before kustom kits existed.

Trailers:

I think the one-wheel trailers might be "factory" jobs, but I'm pretty sure the rest are home made. All are cargo trailers, but a real sicko might use #4 as a camper, I guess. Sheesh!
