PURE Episode 6

In response to Toru's request to be let off Yuka's project, Ooya just says "so... you can't stand her anymore..." and transfers the responsibility to Asako. Toru starts to bin his files on Yuka, and comes across some photos he'd taken of her at the workshop. After pausing a moment, he chucks those out too... Yuka's sitting alone in her workshop, (trying to create her new work for The Move) when she suddenly becomes very frustrated and loses control of herself, throwing things around in a temper and breaking down! Next morning, Takako finds her hunched over in the workshop, which is now in ruins, and Yuka's face also has a cut on it. She hugs Yuka, and tells her that she doesn't have to do it anymore. When Ryo calls Ooya to tell him Yuka's quitting, Ooya convinces him to reconsider, telling him that Toru is no longer has responsibility for the project. While Toru is monitoring Touyama's house, he thinks back his childhood. It turned out that his mom also took her own life, shortly after his father died, so he was left all alone as an orphan - and none of his relatives wanted to take him into their own home. Asako is over at Takako's house, trying to get them to reconsider quitting, saying that the fake sculpture is only a last recourse, and that the subject of Yuka's sculpture doesn't have to be "love", etc. etc. Yuka asks her where Toru is, and Asako says that he's not working on her book project anymore. Toru briefs Kuroiwa about Touyama's actions on the latest tender project recently. He then goes to where the puppy is and leaves a photo he'd taken of the doghouse there - when Ryutai-kun comes up and tells him that the dog belongs to them (him and Yuka). Toru leaves, but Yuka comes by the doghouse and after Ryutai-kun shows her the photo, she runs after him and they make an arrangement for him to see her new sculpture (for the Move) when she's finished making it. When Ryo comes over to Yuka's house that night, he finds her in really good spirits. She tells him it's because of Toru and what he'd taught her. "- what" asks her mom. "-the truth.." she answers. Takako goes to see the doctor to ask him about Yuka's fixation with love. He gives her some advice, saying that if Yuka really does fall in love, then Takako as her mom should support her 100% because it may be the one and only time she may ever fall in love... Ryo's boss offers him the opportunity to go to Osaka to head a new restaurant there. When Ryo hesitates, his boss says that he knows he refused the offer to go to France last time because of Yuka, but now that Yuka's starting to stand on her own, he advises Ryo to think about his own future.
The tender on a construction goes unexpectedly to a different (minor) construction company called Kawakami and Kuroiwa is surprised when Toru informs him of the outcome. But Toru suspects Touyama of trying to create a smokescreen to put people off the scent and wants to pursue the case. Toru's keeping watch over Touyama's house when Ryutai comes by and asks him what he's doing there. He recognises Toru as being Yuka's friend, and shows him the invitation to her launch, saying that he hasn't seen her around lately but he'll be able to meet up with her at the event. Ryo discusses the Osaka offer with Machiko and asks her opinion. She said that she used to think of Ryo as feeling very "brotherly" towards Yuka, but after Toru's appearance, she realises that she was wrong.... but she stops short of saying that Ryo "loves" Yuka, as their cousins, and Ryo tries to laugh it off but they're both acutely aware of the truth. While Asako is passing Toru his work assignment from Ooya, he sees the speech they'd prepared for Yuka to say at the launch. Asako comments that as the launch is tomorrow, it looks like Yuka won't be able to finish her own work in time, but he tells her there's still time yet. Yuka's in her workshop trying to find inspiration, when she accidentally knocks over her wing, and picking up the pieces, she seems to get an inspiration, murmuring "broken wing..." Toru's checking his pager at home (he also realises that time is tight) late that night and he's worried because Yuka had said she would call him the moment it's finished. Meanwhile, Yuka's busy at her workshop creating her new work. Next day, at the party, they're all waiting for her to show up, and the fake sculpture has already been put into place. Meanwhile, Ryo and Asako is waiting for Yuka to finish at home, and Ryo has called them at the party, trying to stall for time. Toru realises that Yuka probably won't be able to make it in time, and he shows up at the party, and was about to make a move to break the sculpture when Yuka arrives with her newly finished creation. As they're setting it up outside, Yuka's in one of the meeting rooms at the back getting ready. She's handed the speech that the Move has prepared, but when they ask her for the name of the sculpture, she realises she hasn't thought up a name for it yet. So they decide to just scrap that part and tell her not to name it. Yuka walks towards the party hall, and sees Toru standing outside the entrance. He tears up her speech, telling her to just say whatever she wants to say, and when she mentions she doesn't have a name for the sculpture, he tells her that's okay too. Yuka makes her entrance and goes up to the stage for her speech. She's quiet for a *very* long time (making everyone really nervous) and finally, looking straight at Toru, she says that her new work was something she had created out of what she'd felt in her heart at the time... As her work is unveiled, Ooya asks Asako what it is... and she replies that it looks like a broken wing. Yuka, still looking at Toru, tells them that the name of the sculpture is "Love". Machiko finds Ryo outside the party, and suggests that they go because it obviously hurts him to be there and it hurts her to see him suffering like that. Ryo's taken back by Machiko's declaration of love. Kuroiwa shows up at the party and tells Asako about Toru's parents committing suicide when he was a child, and comments about how "Toru is not fated to love". Toru says to Yuka "so that's what love looks like..." and Yuka, looking worried, asks if he thinks it looks strange, but he says "no". As they're talking, Komiya arrives with Touyama, and they start to make their way over to where Yuka and Toru are standing... - End of Episode Six - |
