Life: The Dichotomy

Have you ever told the truth, only to find out that you lied?
Have you ever thought you'd given up, then found that you still tried?
Have you ever gone a journey just to find you'd only started?
Have you ever ran to meet someone to find they'd just departed?
Have you ever led a man astray then found him walking true?
Have you ever looked for someone and instead found they found you?
Have you ever made a foolproof plan and seen it fail in style?
Did you ever go for a quick drive and found it lasts a while?

Have you ever lost something of yours that was not really gone?
Have you ever seen your life shine black when light first shines at dawn?
Have you ever seen a life begin when another has just ended?
Have you ever complimented and then found you'd just offended?
Have you ever seen the beauty in the things that are despised?
Did you ever take a stand only to find you'd compromised?
Have you ever thrown out something just to find that it came back?
Have you ever gone defensive when you had planned to attack?
Did you ever make the smart choice just to find yourself the fool?
Have you ever shaved the sheep of life to find it had no wool?

Have you ever sucked a lemon just to find it sickly sweet?
Did you ever swallow nothing, found you had no room to eat?
Did you ever go out early just to find you were too late?
Have you ever spilt expensive wine onto a paper plate?
Did you ever try to win a few but find you lost them all?
Did you ever find the shortest tales are those a tad too tall?
Did you ever strike it lucky just to find you gained a loss?
Did you ever find your seven down just ruined nine across?

Have you ever tried for death or glory, lost out on the latter?
Have you ever cared for something that just really doesn't matter?
Have you ever found the best thing just to find you could do better?
Have you ever found a dry place just to find it makes you wetter?
Did you ever hope for something just to find it hated you?
Have you ever found you're busiest with nothing real to do?
Have you ever soared above the clouds and wished you're six foot under?
Did you ever find the simplest things will really make you wonder?
Did you ever find the perfect map to find it made you lost?
Did you ever pay with all you have and find there was no cost?

Why do opposites attract so much, could they in fact be joint?
Sometimes you find the biggest poem makes the smallest point.
