The Time Destroyer

The little things that go unsaid,
The depths of blue and shades of red,
The details, colours, shadows lost,
Consumed by time and fire and frost.
The thousand words I should have said,
That dance and circle in my head.
The rush, the need to get things done,
That lightens depths and dulls the sun.
The pace that forbids thought and love,
Shoots the messenger, drowns the dove.
The worry that kills the time we had,
Turned day to night and good to bad.
The calls that ended before they started,
Visits that ended before either departed.
The listening that ended with words still to say,
Ending six before five and June before May.
The trains of thought lost in rails towards mists,
The tales gone unfinished before their real twists.

Laments go unsung for words, should have been,
Their names go unuttered, their tombstones unseen.
Their markers lost in clocks and dots,
Lives quickly ended by six digit shots.
Time is against us, and we against time,
Our hearts shall live on, in beat and in chime.
We will not be defeated by rush heaped too high,
Will not be discouraged when troubles are nigh.
For faced with true love, not even time stands,
Against two joined as one, walking on holding hands.

For time lost its power when our eyes first did lock,
No longer found held fast to schedule or clock.
The digits that rule the worlds of our friends,
Then lost their beginnings, their middles, their ends.
