MY BOOK OF MEMORIES |
Another page was added to my memory book today To join the reams of pages That are safely stored away. There are chapters filled with laughter, There are pages stained with tears. There are postscripts to the happy dreams I've had throughout the years. Some pages tell of joyous thoughts Which fluttered through my mind. Some tell of friends and relatives Or those who were unkind. My memory book was started on that day that I was born. It cannot be completed until that destined morn When Someone who controls my fate will come to me and say "You've lived enough, now come with Me. You can no longer stay." My memory book is mine alone Unless I choose to share The precious, lovely secrets That are tucked away in there. When things are going bad for me, My mind filled with despair, I simply turn the pages back To see what's written there; And from the chapters of the past I always can recall The times, the love, the happiness That's made this life my all. There are stacks and stacks of pages, Many blank, and pure, and clean Awaiting time for future thoughts To be added to the ream. Copyright by Barbara A. Duits 1999 |
