VISA STUFF

Hello my dear friends! I hope that you have got your admissions and thus came to this page. Congrats on your admission. This is the crucial part in your travel to USA. This has to be dealt with a lot of care and nothing should go wrong in this process. I sincerely suggest that you start your preparation for your VISA from the date you get your I20 (in case you get it very early) or else atleast before three months of your travel. I repeat, this is very important, deal cautiously.

Well here we go step wise.

®    Accumulating money.

®    Accumulating proofs.

®    Dwelling about what you have with you to show.

®    Getting a bank loan.

®    Looking for sponsors.

®    Making the CA statement

®    Affidavits

®    Preparing yourself for the interview.

ACCUMULATING MONEY: hello everybody. The tough job’s heading you. Well here let’s calculate how much money you should have. Actually when you get your I-20, please find the amount of expenses they mention. These include your fee, living etc expenses. So you should show an amount of (I20 sum) * (2, because the mentioned is for one year) * (Rs.50). This is a must. And the major point we need to note here is many kids drop in exactly the same amount required and thus invite trouble. So you kindly deposit in your bank an amount which is just nearly less or greater than the one required.

Let me ask you a question. If you suddenly, one day, walk in to your house with Rs.50000/- how would your parents react to that. Certainly first you will get a slap and then they will ask the source of that amount. The same thing happens when you drop a few lakhs (more than 3 lakhs) on a single day in your bank account and show that to your consular officer. But you will find a small change, you will not get a slap instead you will get a stamp in your passport, yeah that’s called reject. So kindly don’t drop more amounts on a single day.

What about your bank account? Yes this is again a big question. Kindly, don’t start an account in any bank. The bank should be a nationalized bank and with good reputation. Some examples are SBI, SBH, UNION BANK, ICICI, HDFC, HSBC etc. start an account atleast six months before you goto the consulate. You need not put your money from six months. But I suggest you kindly make some transactions every month (make atleast 8). Now, just before a month, you goto the consulate, start dropping your amounts in the bank. Fine this is it with depositing amounts in the bank. But what if somebody cannot drop in amounts as I said because of some reasons?

For them! Okay as you cannot drop in your money in installment wise, you need to make the consular officer work upon some other credits of yours rather than this.

Fine banking is over. After you complete your depositing etc take a bank statement from your banker. Want to know how a bank statement looks……! Click on

ACCUMULATING PROOFS: This is certainly the most important topic in your VISA preparation. You need to support or show proof that the amounts you have dropped in your bank account are genuine i.e. they are yours. For this people generally have their own ways. I suggest the following.

®    Show one document that you have recently sold off a house.

®    Show one document that somebody had taken a debt from you and then they repaid now.

®    Show some FDs (Xerox) and tell them that these amounts were converted into the sums you have dropped.

These are the best I know. Well this is the crucial part concerned when he asks for your passbook. The proofs you show should very much buttress the fact that these amounts are yours.

DWELLING INTO WHAT YOU HAVE: you go and ask your parents what all they got in assets or cash. Try to remember what all properties you have. Don’t neglect even the smallest of amounts. These include …..

®    Fixed deposits. (attested FD receipts)

®    Lands & houses. (Valid estimation reports including plan of approval)

®    Automobiles. (C Book)

®    Gold & silver. (evaluation report from authorized gold shops)

®    Shares. (certificates)

®    Chits. (certificates)

®    Partnerships & ownerships. (certificates)

®    Agrarian lands. (evaluation reports)

®    Salaries. (salary certificate & IT statement) --- (of all the members in the family you would like to show)

These are most of them. If there are some more forms of assets kindly include them also. Make a statement of each and everything. I mean make a summary. Take authorized certificates for everything as mentioned in the braces for each assets type.

GETTING A BANK LOAN: “I have 50 lakhs with me I don’t need a bank loan.” Okay very much fine. What if you are robbed or you lost all your money to someone/thing? This is the question you may be asked by the consular officer. How would you answer it? And no entrepreneur would like to spend the sum in hand and would like to find a loan. As we have to show an incoming source of funds you kindly take a bank loan, atleast for a small amount. The procedure is …… goto any good bank, which your friends tell is giving educational loans very frequently, and apply for a loan. If the banker troubles you anyway … show the following to the banker. These are RBI directives. Please do use them. The most important thing is …… YOU SHOULD GET A LOAN SANCTION LETTER NOT A LOAN ELIGIBILTY LETTER OR SOMEOTHER SHIT. This is very important.

Fine now you also have a Loan sanction statement. Nice!

LOOKING FOR SPONSORS: A sponsor means the one who funds you all along your study. They can be your parents and only utmost relatives. This is very important. You cannot show some friend of yours in USA as a sponsor. And the biggest health hazard would be to show a USA settled sponsor. Don’t do that. Fetch only people who are in India. Repeat the above procedure, I mean evaluating their funds etc and make a statement individually for each of them.

MAKING THE CA STATEMENT: well for a certified approval of all what you have is to get a CA certification. Well first, find a CA and then ask him what all documents you have to get to certify all your assets. Do not forget even a small asset of yours.

AFFIDAVITS: you need to produce a few affidavits. These things need to be done on Stamp paper(Rs.10/- papers are enough). I’ll give the format. Chiefly there are three.

  1. affidavit of support – to be signed by your sponsor – each by individual sponsor
  2. affidavit of self support – to be signed by you
  3. affidavit of return – to be signed by you

Sentiments:

®    do not book on Monday or Tuesday

Well the major thing you have to do is, you need to study all the documents you are going to show to that consular officer. Because, if you were asked for some info then you should not stammer. Fine lets prepare for the interview.

TIPS FOR THE INTERVIEW

Well kindly make an early entry to the consulate. They would ask you to come only before 15 minutes. But be cautious. At-times they allow people before time only.

®    So go early

®    Don’t take any big bags

®    Carry all the docs in a single harmonium file in a plastic bag

®     Don’t carry any key chains or staplers or cell phones or floppies or any digital equipment

®    don’t dress heavily (try to be religious -  no suit/blazers etc; )

®    carry a good working pen

®    on the back side of the drafts write your passport number, full name, address

®    Tear off the additional score report sheet of your TOEFL score report. Then it would just become small enough. Staple it to the GRE score report. Therefore, when you see it both the scores should be visible.

Now after you bid a comfortable bye to the ones who came with you, you need to stand in a line. Pass through the security check. You will need to collect a file afterwards. Sit down in the line, take out all the documents from your file, and put them in the place provided in the file you pick. Everything is written, so do not mess up. After you put all of them just keep quite and pray or slightly sing some songs (kidding). Now as you proceed in the line at a certain point the TTS fee of Rs.300/- will be collected. Put the receipt in your pocket. Then you will proceed to the formal counters. Here just formally they check your docs and take the first draft (processing fee Rs.4900/-). From here, you will be asked to proceed to the main lobby, where your American friends will be waiting to play with you.

THE RAGGING STUFF

Fine from here read very carefully. I have guided many persons here and all of those got their VISAs. Remember that.

Get into the lobby. You will find some chairs in the lobby before counters numbered 2 to 5. The first counter (No:1) is to pay the fee. So as soon as you go, find a chair, which is center in the last row. You will know why I am telling you this later. Now become a statistician. Observe from which counter there are many people getting VISAs. In the mean time if the guard compels you to stand in the line, say only one word, “I didn’t finish inserting all my docs”. Okay. Here you need to be fast, you should not be estimating for hours. Cool! After you decide to which counter you need to go, when the guard asks you to stand then stand in the line.

Suddenly if you find some good person has jumped in into a counter of the second line or you find that formerly you made a wrong choice, don’t hesitate to change your line. This can be accomplished in many ways.

  1. gently go back and sit down
  2. If the guard objects – tell him that you want to goto water.
  3. If the guard objects – just drop your file down and thus sit down back to adjust the docs.

See these things may be filthy for a moment, but you remember that getting the VISA is the prime issue.

Well now, you are in the line. You are about to face the officer. Feel light. One of the officer’s will call you. Do not run, have a serene gait. As soon as you approach the counter, greet that fellow with a nice smile and good morning or what so ever. Do not say that in a haste, because if he speaks in between you may not hear it. WELL REMEMBER ONETHING. YOU WILL HAVE A SMALL MIC TO SPEAK. HE CAN HEAR YOU. BUT HE WILL NOT SPEAK FROM A MIC. THUS THE VOICE WOULD BE PRETTY LOW. SO KINDLY CONCENTRATE. I AM NOT JOKING. HEAR TO HIM/HER CAREFULLY. DON'T SPEAK TOO FAST.

Answer everything carefully without any stammering. Do not hesitate to lie. If asked, tell him that except some seniors, you do not know anybody in USA. Also do not tell, if any, that your siblings are in USA. Especially, even if you do not have, if asked, tell him that you have a car. Do not hesitate. Try to prove every document you produced genuinely even if they are not. Hope everything positive happens here. If that is so then you pay the fee and just check out happily.

Well if the officer says that you are rejected and cannot give you a VISA, then remember these words.

®    It is only after a year that you can see him again.

®    You may not be able to make it to the next year.

So do not hesitate to argue with him. Tell him that you are genuine and demand him that you want only an F1 visa and would certainly return. Do not just leave the counter. The guard may object you; just give a sharp look to that stupid. He is not even an average person (unfit as a guard).

HOPE YOU DO NOT NEED THIS AND WILL FLY TO UNITED STATES ….

Well I am giving a ZIP file. kindly download. That contains many documents which I have obtained while I went for my VISA.
