Mayday has got 3 albums so far, excluding recordings or their concerts and stuff... if you ask me which one i like best, i really can't give you an answer cos i like all of their songs. it is very unfair to want me to choose one of their songs as my favourite. as i said, i like their songs for their simplicity. simple, catchy tune with simple, straightforward lyrics. no hypocrisy, no trying too hard to be anything, just plain music. i have to admit (extremely shamefully) that i only noticed them after i watched their "farewell" concert <ni yao qu na li>. but the concert was amazing and after watching it, it happened. i fell in love: with them, with their songs, their stage charisma and of course with ashin. the concert was so good, i must have watched it 10 times over and i still don't get enough of it. it is amazing how they can ignite the spirit of more than 20K people and bring the atmosphere so high. towards the end, you can see everyone bursting into tears and sobbing cos the concert was ending. well, all i can say is that if i were there, i would sob too. back to the point, you can see them singing with so much passion for their music, truly enjoying themselves with the audience and everything was so... true. no fancy costumes, no gimmicks, no fancy dances, just them, jumping to their music, and that, my friend, is the simplicity that moves me. ashin sings so intently throughout the concert. and several times, especially at the end, he had to stop so that he could hold back his tears. after watching the concert, i went crazy. went to every shop, collecting their cds, vcds, concert vcds. spent so much money building my "mayday tower" (tower of mayday cds etc.) but it was definitely worth it. listened to their cds, watched their vcds over and over again. almost every waking moment was filled with their songs, if not on the hifi or tv, definitely in my head.. so all i can say or do now is to wait. wait patiently for them to return from their break. meanwhile, ashin and monster have not given us much time to rest. during this break, they joined the producing team of rock records to produce "18be" aka "ban cheng nian zhu zhang". it's an amazing album and i really liked it. please go to "the words" page to read the intro ashin wrote.
