Plans For The '67 SS

What are the plans for the Chevy II?

Now that's a good question! Considering I was planning on getting a totally wasted out car, but ended up with one that's body is in really great shape, the plans are all confused. For the most part, I am looking to update the suspension with better technology, have a better than "Tough" running car, and still be able to cruise around town. As far as an engine goes I'm leaning towards a 383 Stroker. For the transmission I'm going to go with a 5-speed. I have the original 10 bolt for the rearend, which has 4.11 posi, but I may go with a Ford 9".

I want to keep the exterior and interior of the car as stock looking as possible. With my recent ideas about a four-link suspension, it may be hard to keep the interiors original appearance.

For the front end, the car is going to have a Chris Alston Chassisworks, Inc. bolt-on front suspension. From my research they have the best aftermarket "Mustang II" type of front end.

As far as the rear suspension is concerned, I really want to get away from leaf springs. I've been looking into four-link and ladder bar suspensions. With my desire to keep the interior of the car as stock looking as possible, I think a four-link is out. Everything that I've seen and read shows cutting the floor about half way into the rear seat, hence destroying the stock look. If anyone has a different option as far as a four-link setup is concerned, please email me.

Well, that's the plan for now, check back often because I'm sure it will change a countless number of times.
