There have been many updates since. I've decided to do a bigger tub on my Chevy II, so that has changed things dramatically. I've cut out the entire floor and wheel wells from the front of the rear seat all the way back.
I've also ordered a Currie Enterprises rearend narrowed to 52 inches to leave a 3/4 to 1" clearence to the wheel lip. I've decided to go with 8x10 wheels with a 4 1/2 inch backspacing. I made a mistake in my original measurements. Some companies (not Currie) recommend a 1 1/2" to 2" wheel lip spacing for street cars. I originally had my rearend made 50 inches wide. That was a costly mistake. I suggest that if you are planning to do any tubbing of your car that you buy your wheels and tires before you begin ordering a rearend. LESSON LEARNED!!
