Xocenpich, Yucatan, Mexico

In November 1998, I had the opportunity to travel to Mexico for the first time.  After years of studying and speaking the Spanish lanuage, my dream of traveling to Mexico was finally coming true.

This view of these beautiful flowers is on the grounds of La Clinica Bethesda. The Bethesda Clinic is not only a hospital, but a nursing school as well.

My father's church, New Creation Presbyterian Church, in Greensboro, NC was going on a mission trip to Xocenpich.  My father had been before and had told me stories of the experience and of the friends he had made.

One friend in particular, Ulises, I was eager to meet.  I had read and translated letters from him to my father and I wanted to get to know the man behind those letters.

One of the reasons we go to Xocenpich is to offer a Vacation Bible School for the children.  Over 250 children, come to the VBS.  And I have the wonderful job being the teacher.  There is nothing quite like it.  I feel right at home with those children.

We were also able to travel to Chichen Itza to see the beautiful Mayan ruins.  It is truly amazing to think that these were rebuilt and now appear just as they did many, many years ago.  Click here to see more photos of Chichen Itza.
