Surviving the death
of a child is quite a task. When the child is lost during pregnancy
or soon thereafter, it is very hard for others to understand the enormous
grief we have to deal with. Because in most instances no one has seen
the child, it is easy for them to diminish their existence and we're
supposed to get over it quickly and have another baby. But even if another
baby will fill the void left by the child that died, there will always
be an empty place in our hearts. We will never forget the child we lost,
and we shouldn't. He or She is part of us, and always will be. As time
goes by the pain will change, and somewhat lessen, but it is an individual
journey, with no specific stages. The destination is as different and
as individual as we are. Here's some places on the Web that help grieving
parents, and offer words of comfort. Some even bring parents together.
It is my hope that you will find at least one of these sites as useful
as I have.

Don't
Tell Me That You Understand
Don't tell me that you understand,
don't tell me that you know.
Don't tell me that I will survive, how I will surely grow.
Don't tell me this is just a test, that I am truly blessed.
That I am chosen for the task, apart from all the rest.
Don't come at me with answers that can only come from me,
Don't tell me how my grief will pass, that I will soon be free.
Don't stand in pious judgment of the bonds I must untie,
Don't tell me how to grieve, don't tell me when to cry.
My life is filled with selfishness, my pain is all I see,
But I need you and your love...Unconditionally.
Accept me in my ups and downs, I need someone to share,
Just hold my hand and let me cry, and say, "My friend, I care."
