It took Jenna another fifteen minutes to finish her planting and clean things up by moonlight. When she came in the house she could barely see Aaron's silloette framed in front of the window.
"Where's the flashlight? Can't you find it?" she asked.
"Jenna, something's wrong." His voice sounded puzzled...worried. "Something has happenned. I don't know how to explain..." He stopped, took a breath. "The flashlights don't work."
"What?...Well, Aaron, they just need batteries." She started rumaging in the dark to find the drawer where the batteries were kept. Aaron came over and put his hand on her shoulder.
"No. The clock's out too...and my watch. My watchlight doesn't work."
She turned around, tried to make out his face in the dark. "What do you mean?."
"I don't know. I don't understand it" He paused. "Its like...it's like all the electricity is gone...not just down, but gone."
"You're not making any sense, Aaron."
"Well, it doesn't make any sense. It's the only way I know to explain it."
That night they slept uneasy in a darkened home.
