Week 6 had a very unique theme in the HSFL, "veterans returning".  Whether it was from their extended off-season in the case of
John Berlin, and Brad Harber, or from serious injury in the case of Josh Neace, the theme was prevelant.  Coming off their win in week 5, Team 1 regained the superstar Neace, while Team 2 gained the services of Berlin and Harber.

The first half was a typical back and forth battle between these two evenly matched teams, with
Tom Phelps scoring 4 touchdowns for Team 1, and Team 2 simply over powering Team 1 with their brutal running game, lead by Jeff Renn, and Mike Arana.  Team 1 took a 6-5 lead into half time.

The second half was another back and forth series, but this time, the offenses did not dominate.  Defense played a key role in keeping this game close for both teams.  Several ill timed turnovers by Team 1 helped Team 2 hang around, while Team 2's lack of a passing game, came back to haunt them in long yardage situations.  Harber did a tremendous job containing Team 1 quarterback
Bob Glover in the second half, despite giving up one long touchdown run.  Neither team was able to take a two touchdown lead up to 12, and these two teams got set to battle in overtime.

The overtime would end when one team scored 15 touchdowns.  Team 2 appeared to be in control late in overtime, leading 13-12 at one point.  After a Team 1 score to tie the game at 13, a crucial botched hand-off lead to a Team 2 turnover, and a Team 1 score to give Team 1 a 14-13 lead.  Team 2 was able to answer with a score of their own, to tie the game back up at 14.  Team 1 got the ball back, and engineered a long drive despite the darkness beginning to set in.  Team 1, faced with a crucial fourth down and goal situation, used a time out to talk over their strategy.  It was so dark, that there was no possible way that a pass could be completed, so Team 2 knew a run was coming, but the question was to who?  Team 1 elected to run a counter to
John Allendorf, and as the play developed, Team 2 had it well defensed to the outside, and Allendorf was forced to cut the run back.  Defenisve great, Mike Arana was waiting, but Allendorf managed to find just enough room to squeeze by Arana for the score, giving Team 1 the win.

Team 1 had several bright spots in week 6.  Glover continued his great play, by throwing for 9 touchdowns, and running for one.  Neace scored 3 touchdowns in his return.  Phelps looked good in the first half scoring 4 touchdowns, but a charlie horse to his leg slowed his second half production.  Rookie
Kyle Gonzales picked up the slack for the injured Phelps, scoring not only his first career HSFL touchdown, but his first 5 career touchdowns.  Allendorf had the game winning touchdown in addition to another, and an interception.  Team 1 leads the season series 2-1 at this point.

Team 2 looked about as one dimensional as a team can get in week 6, but it worked, and worked well.  Of their 14 touchdowns, only one was a pass, and one was an interception return by Arana, who also caught the passing touchdown, and rushed for 3 more.  Renn was nothing short of dominant in week 6, scoring 9 rushing touchdowns, and just plain beating up Team 1's defense.  Berlin took over the quarterbacking duties for Team 2, the second year veteran threw for one touchdown, and one interception, despite throwing several questionable passes.
Ryan Geib continued his amazing outside run at rookie of the year, by having another outstanding defensive game, and even contributing a bit on offense as well.  Harber was able to provide some much needed pressure on Glover, allowing the rest of Team 2's defense to roam free to make tackles.  Harber did record two sacks on the day, and also caught a few passes on offense.  Team 2 has lost two in a row, and will look to rebound in their next game.
