Step 6- Learn how to make your lesson accessible to all of your students! |
Remember the concepts of CAST's Universal Design for Learning (UDL), in which "curriculum should include alternatives to make it accessible and appropriate for individuals with different backgrounds, learning styles, abilities, and disabilities in widely varied learning contexts"? Well now's the time to use technology to make UDL a reality. If you click on each child's picture, you will see technology based strategies that help children with specific learning disabilities AND are good practice for the general students in your class. |
Ms. Ellis has a first grade class of twenty-three students, and each one has their own unique combination of needs and abilities. |
Anisa is an extremely bright student and avid reader, but is difficult to engage in classroom activities. |
Serge has highly advanced social skills and flourishes during group activities, but has difficulty grasping basic literacy skills. |
Leo is always on the move. He is always the first to ask questions, and the last to sit down. |
How can technology be used to help Ms. Ellis engage all of these diverse learners? Click each child's picture to find out. |
Not to worry. The link below takes you to a page all about Assistive Technology. That is, technology which can make adaptations so that your lesson will be appropriate and accessible to students with more specific needs. |
