Market Street, Elizabethtown "Cygnet Studios offers several art and music services to area residents and musicians around the world." Services include pottery parties and classes for children. Early Childhood Music Programs: Elizabethtown College offers a music program for children 18 months - Age 7. Their goal is to "provide your child with a firm musical foundation upon which a lifetime of musical enjoyment can be built." For more information call Pamela Brightman 426-4106. Ephrata Playhouse in the Park, Childrens' Theater: Ephrata Community Park: Has a summer program only, June through August. For more information call 717-733-7966. GEARS (Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services): GEARS offers a wide variety of programs for all ages. To obtain a schedule, please call 367-0355. Gymboree Play and Music Programs: "Bright playscapes challenge your child's physical capabilities. Creative activities spark their imagination! And in music classes they'll sing, dance and discover new rhythms." Hands-On-House Children's Museum: 721 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster. "Hands-on House, Children's Museum of Lancaster is a not-for-profit educational center whose mission is to create and provide interactive learning opportunities for all children and their families through self-directed exhibits and programming that stimulate curiosity and invite the joy of discovery through play. The Hands-On House features eight self-directed areas designed for adults and children to explore together. The exhibits are geared for children ages 2-10." For more information call 717-569-KIDS(5437). HARRISBURG CITY ISLAND. One of Central Pennsylvania's most popular recreation destinations is Harrisburg's unique City Island. Hershey's Chocolate World Visitor Center: 800 Park Blvd, off Route 322, Hershey. The visitor center offers an automated ride through the chocolate-making process, with a sweet reward at the end. Parking is free if you stay less then two hours. For information call 1-800-HERSHEY. Indian Echo Caverns: 368 Middletown Rd, Hummelstown. The Caverns are a system of underground limestone caves that have been a source of intrigue for hundreds of years. Public tours of the Caverns wind through the intricate course of tunnels to reveal subterranean lakes and large water-carved chambers. For information call, 717-566-8131. Kidz Escape. An indoor playground for kids. A group of less than 15 children is $3 per hour per child. A group of 15 or more pays $2 per hour per child the first hour, $3 per hour after that. You can reserve a room to eat in for $10 for the room. It takes about 20 minutes once you get on route 23 off of route 30 East. After the light at Goods furniture you go through one light then make a right at the second light. This is Hoover Avenue. You come to a stop sign and make a right onto Diller Ave. Then you make a left onto Orlan road. They are located at 172 Orlan Road, New Holland, 351-7529. Landis Valley Museum: 2451 Kissel Hill Rd, Lancaster. "Landis Valley Museum is a nationally significant living history museum that collects, conserves, exhibits, and interprets Pennsylvania German material, culture, history and heritage from 1740 through 1940." For information call, 717-569-0401. The Popcorn Hat Players Children's Theatre Company: Harrisburg's only resident theatre for kids ages 2-10. Located on the first level of Strawberry Square next to Radio Shack. For more information or to make a reservation, call 238-4111. The State Museum of Pennsylvania: Third and 300 North St, Harrisburg. In addition to a Fine Arts Gallery, Planetarium and an 18-foot statue of William Penn the State Museum offers Curiosity Corner where adults and children are invited to touch in the hands-on learning center. "A unique, one of a kind facility combines the IMAX Theater, an interactive Science Center, and the state-of-the-art Sonoco Performance Theater."
