Local parks and playgrounds

Chickies Rock Day Use Area: (This is a nice place for nature walks with young children.  Other parts of Chickies rock offer rigorous hiking trails.)  From the square in Elizabethtown, turn right on Bainbridge Street.  This turns into 241 South.  Turn left on 441 South.  Continue and cross over Route 23.  Keep going and look for the DAY USE AREA sign and pull in on the left.  There is parking near the ranger station.

Cocoa Castle in Hershey: Follow 743 into Hershey.  Turn right onto Cocoa Avenue (At the new shopping center with the Giant and Cocoa Cinema).  Follow to the traffic light (at Route 322) and go straight.  Make a right immediately after passing the wooden playground into the parking lot of Derry Township Recreation Center.

Conoy Township Park: Follow West High Street to Turnpike Road.  Continue on Turnpike Road approximately 3 to 4 miles and turn left on Governor Stable Road.  The park is on the left.

Elizabethtown Community Park/ The Fun Fort: From Market Street, turn on to College Avenue toward Elizabethtown College.  Then make a left onto Mount Joy Street.  The park is on the left.

Hoffer Park in Middletown: Take 230 West into Middletown.  Make a left onto North Race Street (At J&J Pizza and Capital City Cars) Follow North Race Street and pass the Middletown Schools.  Cross over the railroad tracks and the park is on the left.  Go to the end of the parking lot area and the wooden playground is on the right.

Longs Park in Lancaster: Take Route 283 East to Millersville Exit, Route 741. Follow 721 to the traffic light at the health campus then turn left on Harrisburg Avenue.  Go past Park City Mall and cross over Route 30.  Make a left at the red light after TOYS-R-US into the park.  There are several playgrounds, a duck pond, a snack shack, and a petting zoo.

Marietta Park: Taking Market Street/ Route 230 out of town.  Make a left onto Route 743 South toward Maytown and Marietta.  Follow that until you reach Route 441 (At Herr's Market).  At the light make a right onto Route 441.  At the next red light turn right onto Waterford Street.  Make the next left onto  North Chestnut.  Then make the next left on East Walnut.  You will see the park at the end of the street on your left. 

Mount Joy Boro Park /Kunkle Field: Follow Route 230 East into Mount Joy.  At the third light turn left onto Manheim/ Mount Joy Road Route 772.  You will see the park in less than a mile on your right up on a hill to left of a ball field.
