And what is the Community all about?
Emmanuel Emmaus is a part of the Walk to Emmaus ecumenical movement of the Upper Room of the United Methodist Church, Nashville, Tennessee.
The purpose of the Walk to Emmaus is spiritual renewal for Christians that are active in the lives of their churches.
We are located in central (piedmont) North Carolina. Geographically, our community stretches from Marion to Shelby to Concord to Statesville.
We have 8 Walks per year, two women's and two men's in the Spring and two women's and two men's Walks in the Fall. The Walks are held at Camp Loy White in Belwood, NC.
The Emmanuel Emmaus community was officially started on June 23, 1990, in a meeting held at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church.
Our first Walks to Emmaus were held at Camp Loy White; the first Men's Walk was held September 20-23, 1990, and the first Women's Walk November 1-4, 1990.
More information on the Team Members and the Pilgrims on these first two Men's and first two Women's Walks can be accessed from the
