Note that I do not personally phone up each and every single doctor listed herein to confirm their status, nor will I begin doing so at any point in the future. They are listed here because at least one of their patients wanted them to be. It is not my place to debate with a woman whether or not her doctor is "good" or to undertake personal screening of those herein.

Implemented in 1996 and revised countless times since then, this list provides several referrals that have been shared over time throughout the Endometriosis community. However, it is by no means an exhaustive or complete listing of all doctors who treat Endo, and inclusion herein absolutely does not imply endorsement of any practitioners by owner.

ONLY patients can add physicians to this list. Doctors cannot add themselves to the listing under any circumstances. Unlike some sources that accept "donations" in exchange for referrals, this list is publicly available and free to access for all, and I do not accept one cent from any source for anything related to the upkeep of the list.

In the interest of patient privacy, you will not be provided, under any circumstances, with the contact information for the patient(s) who made a good or bad referral for any physician listed. Don't ask.

When complaints are received about a doctor, the physician(s) is/are marked accordingly. You will see that some physicians are marked as "removed." This is done because it is just as important to stay away from the "bad" docs, as it is to find one of the good ones.

The list is patient compiled and maintained. Details are listed exactly as they are provided, spelling errors and all.

NOTE: I recieved a complain about Dr. Surrey. A patient went to him in hopes of getting a second opinion which would be helpful. He reviewed her records and kept pushing for her to get pregnant. She explained to him that she did not want to get pregnant at the time and was only interested in taking care of the endometriosis. Dr. Surrey ordered a test that was to check for infertility, knowing that her insurance did not cover this. She had to shell out the cost of the test because Dr. Surrey refused to write a letter to the insurance company that the test was for endometriosis. She is now deemed as an infertile patient on insurance records and can not have any procedure that has to do with infertility covered, even though she is not infertile at all.

NOTE: I have received SEVERAL messages that this doctor AND his Nurse Practitioner ("NP") BOTH have garnered reputations (from many previous patients) for having "awful bedside manners." According to notes received: This physician has "made patients cry" with his "caustic attitude and total lack of compassion;" and in addition, has become "very ill tempered" when patients ask questions or seek further details about their health. Furthermore, his NP feels that "no recovery time is needed from Lap surgery;" and has stated to patients that "women on those [Endo] Support Groups are all whining babies." I have been told that this physician and his NP "should be avoided at all costs." At the other end of the spectrum, I have ALSO received one message in support of their practice, stating that "they are BY FAR the best people I have ever worked with. I was so impressed...that I opted to use them for myself with my own upcoming surrogacy. Their bedside manner is off-kilt...they talk to you like you're old friends instead of trying to impress you and tell you what you want to hear. Sometimes it does sound crass, but they are the best in the field and the're [sic] expertise far offsets their bedside manner faults. I think it is a great injustice to the many women that could use their service to have them removed from your site." As always, you, the patient, should take both sides of the story and make your own educated decision.

I always loved him until the Endo diagnosis came about. He performed 2 laps on me in 10 months, didn't give me any information after my surgeries, except the total basics. I found out what actually happened from reading the op reports at the hospital. When I pushed for answers, he seemed to hesitate about what to tell me and my husband. He also wanted to give me estrogen supplements to help with my fertility, knowing that he never excised all the endo, and that it could make things even worse than before my surgeries." Another patient wanted her opposite story told: "I have been a patient of Dr. Robert Shwayder going on 9 years now. I too have endometriosis which was diagnosed 6 years ago. I have had 4 laproscopic [sic] surgery's [sic] performed by him and 3 beautiful children delievered by him. He is a wonderful doctor with an amazing bed side manner. I have done a lot of edometriosis [sic] research and people have to realize it will come back. I feel very lucky to have had 3 children and with my last surgery in May 03' I can still have a chance to have another baby ! I would like for others to know my story and that I commend and Thank Dr. Shwayder for his expertise in treating my endometriosis".
