A
Hard Day's Night--A superb movie even though none of the
Beatles exactly gave award winning performances. It's a truly fun
movie, with killer songs, lots of screaming, and John, Paul, George
(my fave!) and Ringo. It's a nice, moderately fictionalized look
at a day in the (hectic) lives of the Beatles with several highly
entertaining subplots. The lonely Ringo. Paul's "clean" grandfather.
George the teen fashion expert. John as the smartass. And, of course,
If I Fell, Can't Buy Me Love, And I Love Her,
and I'm Happy Just to Dance With You among others. |
Help!--It's
the Beatles! How could I not love it? It's fun, it's cheesy, and
it's full of a bunch of great songs with the Fab Four in some pleasant
locations. Ringo is the center of attention here as a cult is trying
to confiscate a gaudy ring in his possession. There's an awful lot
of singing and dancing on the beach and also on the slopes (there's
a great curling scene). Ringo gets locked in a trunk at one point
and the Beatles have a swinging pad. Also I love Another Girl,
I Need You, and You're Gonna Lose That Girl. |
