| Now we know why there has been so much issuance of Radio and TV licenses that the populace eyes has been opened of course Basdeo Panday got in legal trouble for labelling Ken Gordon (of Trinidad Express Fame) a Pseudo- racist and imagine we are still forging from the Love of Liberty? What was feared by these PNM bigots in the transition of the Trinidad media from pre-colonial to post colonial was that the balance of power that was wielded by control of the Port of Spain media would be lost if licences were issued for the radio stations that would spring up in places like San Fernando that operates on a more equal tier. There could have been the case of Xenophobia as suffered by the late former Prime Minister Dr Eric Williams when it came to treating each religion equally, of course efforts were made by the Pioneers of East Indian Radio the Mohammed Brothers who used entertainment to unify the Indians in Trinidad with the use of Hindi and Urdu which by the way are not the only languages spoken in India there were also languages such as Arabic, Gujarati Telgu and Marathi which is probably dead in Trinidad thanks to the PNM past program of brainwashing and de-cultured education via the then TTT (Trinidad and Tobago Television). |
| We are now reaping the seeds of past PNM propaganda, where there is now a desire for other religions and races to go it alone and look after themselves for example there are Imams who want to set up 'Muslim villages' much akin to the China towns of the U.S.A and U.K. Caution must be taken with the new lingo of 'Social engineering' as being used by the PNM as they seem not to know what they are doing. The UNC had stated that they wanted a society based on equality but as it turns out, quoting from Animal Farm, 'Some are more equal than others' as we find that the meritocracy takes the subtle form of the archaic Caste system raising its ugly head. |
| There is of course an imbalance in the media and also in the general way of thinking as we boast that Trinidad is a Multicultural society but still ram the Fascist Afro-centric/ Euro-centric Christian worshipping propaganda, that the former Colonial masters do not adhere to in the 21st century, down the throats of others who are of Hindu and Muslim faiths. |
| In Trinidad we revel in the fact that we sound like an 'illiterate Nigger' as some English people would say, and chastise anyone who are imitating the American accent. The funny thing is why did Kevin Lyttle fly up the American pop charts? It is because he was speaking their language or at least singing it, that's why modern Trinidadian Calypso will not get recognized outside of its expatriate's circle. The Media has had a role to play in shaping our nation for the worst and the change must come not only in the media's lackadaisical approach to reporting in parliament, in ability to do follow up stories and to cross link stories, showing prudence |
| when reporting kidnappings and Murders with regards to peoples personal information but also to be neutral and show both sides of a story instead of reducing each story to be reported with bias on race, religious preference and political affiliation.
