I've been a caregiver for 6 years now.  When I started I was 25 and could barely cook.  Now I've got a great husband, a terrific step-son, a wonderful toddler and a new baby on the way.   And, Grandad is still making it.
I attribute my success to being too stubborn to believe that we couldn't do it. As a part of our stubborness Granddad and were able to forget all of our notions of pride and ask everybody we met for help and advice.
This web site is a free resource for families like us and the buddy plan is a way for all of us to get through this easier.   Most caregivers are spouses and the lonliness is one of most painful parts for the caregiver.  Having a friend or family member who has experienced what you are going through makes living with the disease and its impact less painful.

COMING SOON!
THE BUDDY PLAN
There is always, hopefully, something fun coming soon to the web site, our family and your family.  Living with Alzheimer's Disease certainly means that there will always be something, bad or good, coming soon in your life.  A sense of humor and a good outlook helps to deal with those things that are painful or frightening.

The buddy plan is easy.  Send us a note and tell us that you are interested and we'll send you back a welcome home note.
Each of us signs up to be an online friend to a caregiver who is experiencing a phase of the disease that we have gone through.  In turn we each get a friend who has suffered through whatever stage we are currently in.
Being an online buddy means checking in with and talking online to your buddy once a week.  We share ideas and talk and listen.  It is a great relief to just know that somebody is out there who you can talk to who has been there.
We will make chat rooms available for a regular weekly chat session beginning in February.
