Fall 2004
Cathing up with an eventfull year!
It has been quite a while since our last newsletter. Fans have enjoyed a year of ups
and downs with Steven's many appearances in various shows. The best news being the role of
"Rex" in the new television hit series, "Desperate Housewives". Several fans also had
the great opportunity of meeting Steven this year and once again fans were able to raise
money for charity, breaking past records!
This newsletter is a short review of the appearances and events that have taken place in
the last several months. It also marks the updated Steven Culp Fan Connection site and
activities.
Desperate Fans are Desperate for Rex!
Fans were thrilled to hear the news that Steven
would be a regular on the new ABC series "Desperate
Housewives". Finally a weekly dose of our dear
Steven! This was exactly what fans have been hoping
for! To make the news even better, the show is now
ABC's #1 series and it has been breaking rating
records for a Sunday night show. The first three
episodes were #1 for its time slot, much to our
delight.
Steven portrays Rex Van DeKamp, an unhappy husband,
married to Bree, one of the "Desperate Housewives"
of the show. Bree is portrayed brilliantly by Marcia
Cross.
The show deals with 4 housewives who are friends as
well as neighbors. Their happy suburbian life, takes
a surprising twist when a friend and neighbor commits
suicide. As the show progresses we learn little by
little about the many secrets and problems that surround
all of them.
"Culpies" are of course interested about "Rex" and what is happening with his marriage
to Bree. There is a secret there and speculations are already running wild in "Rex" fandon.
What is Rex hiding? What made Bree such a peculiar person? Why and who is really
responsible for their marriage troubles? Fans can't wait to find out more about Rex and
hope to continue to see more of him every week.
One more piece of good news about the show, it has been nominated for a People's Choice
Award for Best New TV Drama. Congratulations to Steven and the entire cast!
For more on Rex, check out the new page "Desperate4Rex".
Don't forget to write ABC and Touchstone Television in support of our favorite DH character
and our wonderful Steven.

ABC's Preview Weekend
Steven and the cast of "Desperate Housewives"
participated in ABC's Primetime Preview Weekend
at Disney's California Adventure on September
11th, 2004.
Steven looked wonderful in khaki shorts, a
Hawaiian type shirt and sunglasses. Fans that
attended the event all agreed that Steven looked
very good and sexy.
Steven and the cast signed autographs and had
their picture taken with fans who waited in line
for the chance to get a closer look of their
favorite actor.
Shortly after that, the cast participated in a
Q&A session. The session was fun and fans had
the opportunity to learn more about the show
and their favorite characters.
After the Q&A, fans quickly lined up for the Parade of Stars. Steven and Marcia Cross (who
portrays his wife on the show) waved and smiled to fans as they rode in a convertible
down the parade route.
The day was a dream come true for fans who had never had the chance to meet or see Steven
up close, and they were not disappointed!
JAGFanFest 2004
On September 17th-19th, the fourth annual
JAGFanFest too place in Van Nuys, California.
As in years past, "TotallySteven" had a booth at
the event and we had a wonderful time meeting
fans and rasing money for charity.
We were especially thrilled this year due to the
wonderful treat of having our wonderful Steven
attend the Fest on Friday night.
The Fest started Thursday night with an informal
get together for fans. We were honored to have
JAG producer Charles Floyd Johnson stop by for
a quick visit. That night Charles received a
couple of awards. One of them was a special
Chaz Award presented to him by one of the Fest
Organizers. The award was presented by our very
own TS staff member Carol Preflatish. Carol came
up with the idea of naming the award after Charles
back in 2003, so it was fitting for her to present
the award to him.
Friday afternoon fans got together to play some
JAG games, such as the Fest's own version of
"JAGpardy". We were thrilled to see a couple of
SC fans in the winning team. Way to go ladies!
That afternoon fans also attended a writing seminar
with special guest, author Norm Harris.
Friday evening was our favorite part of the Fest.
Why? Because our wonderful Steven stopped by to
sign autographs and have his picture taken with
fans. As it is always the case with Steven, he was
friendly, funny and a real class act.
We could go on and on about how wonderful it was to
have Steven there, but we think it is better if you
read what some of the fans and SCFC members had to
say about their "Culp" experience.
Write-up 1 Write-up 2 Write-up 3
A special moment for us was presenting Steven with
a gift in name of his fans. We presented him with
an exact replica of a "Star" from the Hollywood Walk
of Fame. The replica was designed by the same artist
who makes the stars for the Walk of Fame.
You can see photos of it and more Fest photos here.
Like in years past, we had several goodies for the
fans attending the Fest. This year we had buttons,
cups, bookmarks, notebooks, fans, pocket calendars,
stress balls, pencils, address books and a Steven
Culp booklet.
We also had special goodie bags for SCFC members. These
included a magnet, photo, calendar and a raffle ticket.
The winner of the raffle was Anja! She won, among other
things, a large bag with photos of Steven in various roles
and LARGE photo of Steven. Both items were autogprahed by
SC.
Our on-line raffle broke last years record and we raised
over $400 from tickets bought just by TS list members. The
winner was Janet H!
Our Fest raffles total was $1,089.
Steven also was gracious to sign a few items for
the auction. One item which included a tote bag
with JAG cast photos and autoghraphed scripts,
raised $300. A couple of silent auction items
raised a total of approx. $422.
On Saturday, fans had a chance to visit the JAG
set. There we were met by writer/producer Dana
Coen, producer David Bellisario, actors Scott
Lawrence (Sturgis), David Andrews (the new JAG)
and other writers.
Saturday nigth was the Auction, hosted by Randy
Vasquez (Gunny) and John DeMita (Colonel Blakley).
The auction raised a total of $41,114.00. This
is a new record for the JAGFanFest, bringing the
grand total to $94,861.85 for the last four years.
There are a lot of people we have to thank for everything they did to help us before,
during and after the Fest. Please join us in giving them a hand for doing such a wonderful
job helping us at TotallySteven/SCFC with this wonderful event.
A Heroes' Death
One of Stevens most loved characters this
year was Enterprise's Major Hayes. Where
some characters are received with mixed
feelings by fans, the character of Hayes
had the ability to conquer all fans. The
strong, dedicated, courageous, very good
looking MACO leader had fans enjoying each
minute he was on the screen and had us
wanting more and more.
Sadly Major Hayes was fatally wounded in the
episode "Countdown" while rescuing one of the
regular characters of the series. Major Hayes'
death was a heroic one, and fans were at least
able to see this great character go out in a
blaze of glory.
Steven, as usual, did an incredible job with this role, and new "Culpies" were born even
as Hayes passed away into Enterprise Gallactic History.

"Webb lives!"
Ever since JAG's season finale aired, fans
wondered and speculated about Clayton Webb
being "really" dead or if he was "faking" his
death again. We found our speculations were
correct when we saw a familiar figure sitting
on the beach in Hail and Farewell, II,
in September. Clayton Webb was alive.
Fans of Webb remember that this is the second
time his death has been faked, with the first
being Webb of Lies. This time he set up
his death to protect his own life. An assassin
called, The Hawk, was hunting him down.
British MI6 agent, Simon Tanveer befriends Mac,
telling her he is there to protect her from The
Hawk, who he believes is not after her. "The Hawk"
believes Webb is alive and will contact you,"
Simon tells Mac. Both Mac and Simon search for
clues to Webb's whereabouts.
Even though Webb fails to contact Mac, his secretary calls Mac and tells her that Webb is
alive and at Manderlee.

Haffley For President

The new season of "The West Wing" brought us more
of the sexy Speaker of the House Jeffrey Haffley.
Though scheduled to appear in only 2 episodes of
the new season, fans are happy to get to see their
favorite Republican back on the small screen.
Steven appeared in the episodes: "NFS Thurmont" and
"Third-Day Story".
The third episode of the season seemed to be the
favorite of the fans due to the great sarcasm that
Steven knows how to use so well when acting out some
of our favorite characters.
ER
For those fans who may not know, SC will no longer
appear on "ER". The actress who portrayed Doctor
Corday is no longer with the show, and therefore
no more teacher Dave. But we will always have the
memories of the "rubber ducky". Dave Spencer was an
adorable character and we will miss him.
Steven at the LCA7
Steven attended the benefit "Lights,
Camera, Auction 7" that took place
in Los Angeles, on October 22-24.
You can read about the event and
Steven, in a write up by one of our
members, Monika, who was there.

The Steven Culp Fan Connection
After several hectic months of Fest preparations, we have finally updated the website
for the SCFC. In December, we will re-start the monthly raffle and birthday club raffle.
If you want to join the SCFC please check the updated website. If you are not sure on
the status of your membership, email us at fanconnection@yahoo.com for information.
We are looking forward to new fans joining us, sharing with our old timers and getting
ready for our new activities.
Note to our current members. We have a few items left over from the Fest. If you
are interested in receiving the SC booklet from this year's Fest and any goodies we
may have left send us a self addressed, self stamped envelope.
Christmas is only a month away!
Yes, you guessed it, its almost time for our annual toy drive.
This year we will continue our tradition of collecting toys
to donate to needy children this Christmas in lieu of a gift
for Steven. Year after year Steven has told us how much he
appreciates and likes this and has said many times that this
is the best gift his fans can give him, therefore we will
continue to honor him in this manner. Like last year, toys
will be donated to the "Spark of Love" program. (Toys are
collected by Fire Department personnel)
Like we did last year we will also be collecting items to send
care packages to our troops who will spend the holidays away from
their families. This year, this activity really hits close to home
to many of us, since close friends, relatives and one of our very
own SCFC members have been deployed far from home.
Lets break last years record and honor Steven with our generosity towards others this
holiday season. To avoid the expense of shipping the packages over seas, this year we will
be donating the goodies to "Operation Gratitude". They will send the packages to the troops
with our cards, letter and notes. With the money we will save in shipping, we will be able
to send more goodies to the men and women serving overseas. (NOTE: We will be sending our
fellow list member that has been deployed, her own Christmas care package in name of her
fellow "Culpies")
This is a partial list of the items being requested at this time:
Puzzle, Word Game and Crossword books.
Individual packets of: Trail Mix, Beef Jerky, Nuts, Cookies, Energy Bars, Candy (no chocolate)
Packets of Powdered Cold Beverages.
Commercially sealed Lip Balm.
Individual packets of moist towelettes.
Travel size lotion, shampoo and toothpaste.
Packets of Stationary.
Novelty Items.
New Knit Hats and Gloves.
Travel Size containers of Foot Powder.
New DVDs and CDs.
Disposable Cameras.
If you are able to participate in any of the above activities, please email us at:
culpfan@yahoo.com for more information. A reminder will also be posted to our lists.
Items for our troops need to be received by Dec 16th. Toys for the children need to be
received by Dec 17th.
