Your birds cage is one of the most important things in its life. Your bird will have to eat, play, and sleep in its cage so it needs to be big enough for them. Think about this, your birds cage is its bedroom, bathrooom, living room, kitchen, dining room, etc and thats alot of stuff to cram in a little cage.

Tip #1: don't get a small cage because its more affordable! Besides just saving up and buying the big cage first saves you alot of money in the long run. One thing you'll learn about owning a bird is that their expensive, and once you own one, your stuck!

The bigger the cage the better but watch out for that bar spacing, for Quakers the bar spacing should be no smaller than 3/4 an inch and no bigger than 1/2 an inch. If the bar spacing is too big your Quaker could get his head stuck in between the bars which could result in injuries and in serious cases death. So make sure you check out the cage BEFORE buying it.

Cages come in many different shapes and sizes. My personal favorites are the playtop ones, the ones that have a built in play stand on top. Of course they are more expensive too, if you don't have enough money to buy a playtop cage then buy a cage with flat top and they sell things you can add to the cage or you can sit a T perch or your own playtop on it. I also like dome tops, the ones with the rounded tops because it gives the birds some interesting things to do up there. But there are so many different styles it's hard to choose. Just remember to pick the biggest cage you can budget and the style you think your fid* would enjoy most. Have fun!
