The Bloodwind Isles are located in a warm tropical region of the world of Thaelan. As such, the weather creates a number of complications. Perceptively, there are only two seasons, each separated by the Bloodwind Monsoons. The summer is about six months long and warm, and the rain season between the Monsoons is shorter (only three months long) and cooler. The Bloodwind Monsoon periods are each two months long, and mark the transition between the two seasons.

The Calendar of the Nine Kingdoms is a lunar calendar, marked by the monthly passage of the moon overhead. The year is divided into thirteen lunar months of 28 days each. Each month is further divided into four weeks of seven days each.

The months of the long summer season are, in order: Tradewinds, Goldensun, Clearskies, Bloodsails, Warsend, and Cloudsdancing.

The months of the first monsoon season are Redwinds and Firegales.

The months of the shorter rainy season are, in order: Seamists, Waterfall, and Sagelore.

The months of the second monsoon season are Banestorms and Deathtide.

The days of the week are, in order: Godsday, Workday, Swordsday, Spellsday, Helmsday, Portsday, and Restday.

Dates are often referred to in the following manner: [day of the week], the [date] of [month]. For example, the first day of the year is Godsday, the 1st of Tradewinds.

Activity: Adventurers, merchants, and other travelers are only limited in their travel during the intense Bloodwind Monsoons, though sea travel is a little more complicated during the rainy season.

Lunar Phases: The moon is always full on the 1st of each month, and new on the 15th of each month.
