Date: June 2000 Match: Cookstown Fr Rocks V St Enda's Omagh Report Fr Rocks Ladies travelled to the neutral venue of Carrickmore last Saturday evening to play their Senior Championship first round tie against St Enda's Omagh. The girls were mentally prepared for the challenge and right from the first throw-in they dominated the field. With less than 60 seconds played Natasha Rushe received a great ball from the midfield to slip past the keeper for the first score of the game. That gave the girls the extra bit of confidence they needed and from then on there was no stopping them. The ball rarelly made it past the Cookstown half back line with Michelle Monaghan dictating a lot of the play from centre half back - on the rare occasion Omagh broke through the Fr Rocks back line stood firm. All the midfielders had tremendous games, covering every blade of grass and they created many excellent scoring opportunities for the forwards. Those chances led to three excellent goals for Cookstown, Mairead McGucken claimed the first as her free drifted over the keeper and in under the bar. Joanne Crozier punched in a second and newcomer Briege Hagan left her mark on the game by scoring two well taken points. The championship semi-final will be played on July 1, and although there is still plenty for the girls to work on, their confidence will be high going into that match. Team: Martina Glackin, Julie O'Neill, Sinead Glackin, Martina Doyle, Michelle Monaghan, Karla Quinn, Una McKay, Siobhan Monaghan, Mairead McGucken, Carla McGarrity, Tina Toner, Briege Hagan, Joanne Crozier, Natasha Rushe. Date: 23June 2001 Match: Cookstown Fr Rocks V Dromore Report Fr Rocks Ladies travelled to Drumquin on Saturday night to take on Dromore in the 1st Round of the Championship. After a nervous start both teams settled down and started to play great championship football. At the first half-time interval Dromore were leading by only a single point, and were hungry for a win after their promotion to Division 1 this year, but Cookstown were just as hungry and at full-time the score was Cookstown 1-8 Dromore 0-11. As this was Championship football it was decided that extra time was to be played, with Dromore only scoring a single point in the extra time and Cookstown scoring 1-2. This was an outstanding display of football from Fr Rocks Ladies and the deserved their place in the semi-final.
