Crossing Africa, that was clear quite quickly. But then we had to figure out in what direction: via Spain and Morocco , via Italy and? Tunesia or via Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Egypt.
Our first (ideal) route was via Spain and Marocco, so we could visit Western Africa and than cross through Niger and Chad to Sudan. Although recent experience from other travellers show it is perfectly possible, we decided not to pursue this option because of safety and time ... and afterall, we still need a destination for a next holiday!
So now we will go through Eastern Europe and take some time to visit Turkey, Syria and Jordany which were also high on our wish list. We will cross to Egypt, where we will visit some Egyptian friends (Sahar, we are on our way!) and than go down, focussing on Eastern and Southern Africa. And the final destination is Cape of Good Hope.
