Air gun hunting Oklahoma

Oklahoma has some of the best hunting in the USA, and if you are new to hunting, I think you will find there is a lot of public hunting land here.Be sure to check laws and regs these can change with each hunting area. There are several different ways of hunting. I hunt white tail deer with a bow and small game with an air rifle. Both of these styles of hunting call for skill. You must be able to stalk or still hunt without being detected, because you must be at fairly close range to your game. Also, you must be well practiced with each of these weapons to be A successful and an ethical hunter. As you must be able to hit a vital area on your game. The air rifle I use shoots at around 1000fps and has a scope on it. You must know your rifle well enough to make scope adjustments as needed or hold over or under. I have found air guns to be a very useful tool in teaching new shooters saftey and ethical hunting practices, such as shot placement. Air rifle hunting requires the hunting skills of a bow hunter and the techniques of a seasoned rifleman. You can walk untill you junp a rabbit Then stop and wacth. Cotton tails and jacks will only run about 20-30 yards a lot of the time. You may have a shot or you may need to move up slowly untill you have a clear shot.They will run to thier hole if it is close.Look around brush piles . and you can jump up and down on them and one may run out. They love brier bushes . look around you will see the trails and dropings .Then you can find or make a a hide and still hunt, if you like. Don't expect to get a bunch AIR RIFLES ARE NOT THE SIMPLEST WAY OF HUNTING RABBITS.And that is part of the fun it does take skill and time.And you are giving a fair chase to the game. Air guns take more skill then the old shot gun.And just make good sense in a small hunting area.
