Furry Ongion

The girl band that wasn't all girls. Formed in early 1994 and disbanded sometime after March 25th 1995. The band featured Ania Dabrowski on bass, Jason Watson (who was always called Phil because at a party someone said that he looked like a Phil) on guitar, Jen Palmer on guitar and Yvan Petit-Pas on drums who replaced Mark Tadijanovich.

They only made one 12 song album called Grease which was recorded January 14 1995 at the Asian Spice Shop and mixed shortly before their Second Wave in-store on January 20 1995. Here is their description in Humpin' In The Back Room issue #2, they were described as:

Jump and dance! Furry Ongion is here. Take the eerieness of Lush splash it with some punk, and give it some good songwriting. Enjoy! Plus lots of other quirky poppy tunes to occupy your car rides.

After the band dissolved Jen and Ania still played together and formed the short lived Blue Suede Gnus. Jason went without a band since Loser Parade was pretty much finished as well. Yvan went his own way for over a year as well and joined Cartoon Khaki August 15th 1996 and now he currently makes music with the MTV Music Generator on his Sony Playstation 2. Ania now played with Jeff in a band called the Egg Monks for a few years (changed the name to Cougar Melons) She also played in a two piece with Chelse Pratt called Buck Fever in early 2003.

...Red 5. I liked them just because they called Quicksand rock stars over the PA while Quicksand was on the stage. They actually reminded me of Furry Ongion a bit, so they have to be pretty good... (by Ryan Korczak)
