BIIDAASIGE KWE - SUNLIGHT WOMAN

Shandra's most recent acting work was in the role of "Virginia" in BIIDAASIGE KWE - SUNLIGHT WOMAN, produced by
Debajehmujig Theatre Group and directed by Ron Berti.

This production, based on stories told by an Ojibway Grandmother named Biidaasige Kwe, was performed in Ojibway and English, and toured to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in the fall of 1998, hosted by
Two Planks and a Passion Theatre

BIIDAASIGE KWE was a special guest of the
Atlantic Fringe Festival, and the show was performed in a giant tipi in downtown Halifax.

Shandra played Biidaasige Kwe's daughter, who acted as translator for the stories. She also played Zhingiben the duck.  Actually Zhingiben is a cormorant, and the name translates to "Hell Diver" in English.

The company toured to First Nations communities after leaving Halifax, and the tipi always attracted an enthusiastic crowd.
