After the war Garbo was awarded his MBE but was not able to collect it because of the secrecy involved around MI5, MI6, The Twenty Committee, Bletchley Park and Ultra. All connections involved were to be kept secret. Everybody knew that MI5 & MI6 existed but nobody reallly knew what they did. The other departments existence was kept secret for many years.
Garbo went to live in Venezuela with his wife and son and was simply known as Juan Pujol Garcia with his exploits during the war not to be spoken about for many years. |
