| When I first started learning about Garbo I was completely enthralled by this man, captivated by his skills to dupe Hitler. The more I learn about Garbo, The more unsure I am as to how loyal he really was. Could Garbo really be a Judas? Self preservation comes to mind. | The Nationalists Won The Spanish Civil War. Juan Pujol has stated that he despised the (Nationalist) Franco regime. Yet he joined the Nationalist Army. Then absconded over to the Republicans side in such a way that he could conceivably had bean captured. Was it because his whole philosophy was self preservation regardless of who won the war. By being on both sides of the conflict he would be able to come out with a plausible reason to any eventual winner |
| During WWII he joined the German spy network then joined up with MI5. Which ever side had won he could have come up with a story to be on the winning side. Very cleverly he had made everyone aound him believe what he wanted them to believe. Remember he was awarded the Iron Cross & MBE. Whoever won the war, Garbo would be a hero. We already know that he was a great actor. Hence the codename GARBO. |
| Was he also a conman, did he con Britain as well as Germany. Was he edging his bets even futher and getting a foot in with Russia In 1959 Pujol faked his own death apparantly to put off any fascists who may be after him, subsequently (Cambridge Spies) Kim Philby Guy Burgess Donald MacLean Anthony Blunt's activities with Russia were uncovered not long afterwards. All had connections with Pujol. |
