There are many different kinds of long distance love;  online relationships, penpals, couples who are separated by work (such as soldiers, oil-rig workers, etc), separation due to imprisonment or hospitalisation etc. Some are permenant, some are temporary, some begin as LDR's and others are forced to become them due to situations.

As wonderful as it can be, a long-distance relationship can be very hard; evidently they go through, on average, more obstacles and problems than others.

It takes two strong hearts, a lot of quality time and effort to make it work out. There are many good stories to hear, but also some bad ones, as not all work out. That's just the way love goes.

But this page is for those who are in a "LDR" or who are considering one, or who just want extra romantic ideas, to try and offer a little bit of help and information that i have learned, and also provide many links of helpful places to visit!

Any specific questions you would like to ask me about love/romance/LDR's or tips you have that u would like me to add,  you can, using my guestbook and leaving your email, (if u do not want the message to be posted publically you can tell me this in your message and i won't do!)  and i will try and help if i can :)!

The best piece of advice i can give for maintaining a LDR or any romance, is communication, and commitment.
A lot of effort is rewarded with a lot of love and effort returned from your partner!

Even though the times may get very hard, you may even question why you are putting yourself through this, it is important that you both talk about how you are feeling, share your feelings and fears and be prepared to listen with an open mind to what your love has to say, then you can both learn things and see what it is you need to work harder at! It takes a lot of commitment, but if you truly feel this person is wonderful, and special to you, then you will find a way to cope with it all, and work your way through it. Having goals to focus on can help, things you both want (e.g to eventually live together, to visit one another etc)

But this page is for those who are in a "LDR" or who are considering one, or who just want extra romantic ideas, to try and offer a little bit of help and information that i have learned, and also provide many links of helpful places to visit!

Any Good Points to an online relationship/LDR???!:

This is intended as a lighthearted view for those of you who are feeling a little down because you are in love with someone you originally met/onlly able to keep in touch with online and feel there is little to celebrate or feel exceptional about to your circumstances, nothing can take away the tough reality of it, but hopefully these CAN make you smile and feel special ;)!!...

*You get to really get to know their personality well, share laughs and ask questions etc a lot easier than in real life and probably more quicker, because the physical aspect isn't there so much, so consequently u spend more time on the emotional and spiritual things.

*If you are a little shy or not too social etc then its easier to talk to someone you like through a screen than face to face, i know it was like that for me, im such a shy lady when i like someone and its hard for me to express how i feel in those early face to face meetings etc, but online u can be yourself without worrying about things like how you are looking, or whether you have lettuce in your teeth etc, lol! Obviously the intention is to one day soon meet face to face, but by that time hopefully those first nerves etc will have dissipated and you will have made your first impressions already :)

*There are no outside influences directly for a while, its just you and him/her talking, with no friends or family to really meddle in it and demand time to meet them etc, its just the two of you, giving you more time to grow and strengthen as a couple.

*If your online love is in another country it really broadens your cultural awareness, gives you the chance to see new people, places, cultures, etc to what u may have before, and it really does help you to learn more about the world.

*It helped me to add better lol, constantly adding 6hours onto the time to figure out what time it was for him really improved my mental arithmatic hehe lol :)

*You go through more together, so grow stronger, its a more intense relationship when u miss one another, have to go months without them etc... its good character building and i think really helps you to learn more about yourself!

*I think you take each other for granted less.... i had my friends who saw their boyfs everyday and they always argued over silly stuff and played games etc, whereas i wished they'd just be grateful to have another close, it really makes you assess whats important!

* You build a soild foundation of support, love, trust, fidelity, loyalty, honesty, fun and COMMUNICATION for your relationship to carry you throuhg the years!

*Makes you a computer whizzkid and gives you great typing speeds hehee :)

*Through my experience of an online relationship i met a lot of kind and great people, both those who were friends and family of my loved one, and also on forums etc where i got to share my experience with people who understood! :) Plus, i got great inspiration for this website too :)
