Joseph A. Gilbert

    Joseph Albert Gilbert, formerly of the Dunean community, died Friday morning at 5:30 o'clock in a Greenville hospital.  He had been in steadily declining health for three years, and his condition became serious five days ago.
     During the last 10 years Mr. Gilbert had lived in Pickens County and for a number of years had lived in Anderson County.
     He was born September 2, 1879 in Rabun County, Ga., a son of the late W. E. and Sallie Welborn Gilbert.
     Mr. Gilbert was a member of Dunean Baptist Church.
     Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maude O'Shields Gilbert; four daughters, Miss Beulah Gilbert and Mrs. Pauline Jones of Easley, Mrs. Montine Bishop of Belton and Mrs. Christine Morrow of Pendleton; two sons, J. M. Gilbert and W. M. Gilbert of Greenville; four brothers, J. E. Gilbert of Easley, C. L. Gilbert and H. L. Gilbert of Spartanburg, and Aldon Gilbert of Alabama; one sister, Mrs. Conlee Cowart of Georgia; fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Dunean Baptist Church by the Rev. A. Howard Wilson, the Rev. Tommie Haggal and the Rev. B. B. Caldwell.
     The body will be carried to the home of W. M. Gilbert, 17 Seyle Street, Dunean, this morning where it will remain until the hour of the services.  R. D. Jones and Sons, morticians, are in charge.
