Williamston -- Melvin Douglas Gilbert, Sr., 57, of 418 Williams Street, husband of Onell McCuen Gilbert, died Wednesday, November 4, 1998 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Horace Leeman and Ida Holmes Gilbert. He was retired from the Kendall Co., and was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Jackie (Susan) Davis of Pelzer, two sons, Earl Gilbert of Pelzer and Tracy Gilbert of the home; three brothers, Elbert Gilbert of Pelzer, Bobby Gilbert of Spartanburg, and Jack Gilbert of Greenville, a nephew reared in the home, Ray Gilbert of Gray Court; three grandchildren, Nicole Davis, Erika Gilbert, and Blake Gilbert.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer by the Rev. Kerri Edwards. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
