    PIEDMONT --  William Lamar Gilbert, 62, of Rt. 1, Piedmont, died at an Easley hospital at 1 p.m. Friday after an extended illness.
     A son of James E. Gilbert and the late Rachel Denton Gilbert, he was a native of Georgia, but had lived in Anderson County 12 years.  He owned and operated Gilbert and Sons Garage on Highway 81.
     He was a member of the Mountain Springs Baptist Church and the Men's Adult Bible Class of the Sunday School.
     Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nettie C. Gilbert; his father, James E. Gilbert; his step-mother, Mrs. Emma B. Gilbert of Easley; four sons, James Edward Gilbert of Long Island, N. Y., Calvin Gilbert and J. C. Gilbert of Easley and Grover Gilbert of Anderson; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Wardlaw of Williamston, Mrs. Ruby Lois Hedden of Easley, Mrs. Mildred Ladd of Greenville, Mrs. Louise Myers of Marysville, Calif.; four brothers, Lawrence Gilbert of Greer, Lamon Gilbert, Leroy Gilbert, and Lonnie Gilbert of Easley; four sisters, Mrs. Laura Hall and Mrs. Lola Hayes of Easley and Mrs. Lois Stancell of Pickens.
     Funeral services will be conducted at Mountain Springs Baptist Church at a time to be announced by Rev. L. H. Fowler, Rev. E. C. Neeley, Rev. C. W. Sanders and Rev. Marlow Durham.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. 
     The body is at Robinson Funeral Home and will be taken to the home on Highway 81, near Gilstrap's store at 2 p.m. Saturday.
