Abuse and Trauma |
Hands on my body, Running over my skin, Fingertips blistering, The innocence can't win. Touching me softly, Yet, I'm screaming in pain, Gliding slowly and sweetly, To my soul deep within. Fires are burning inside, Pleasure or pain? I don't know the difference, So I'll try once again. |
Innocence Lost |
Carry on touching, I don't really care, Hurt me again, You know it's only fair. Look into my eyes, Touch my scarred lips, Make sure your fingertips, Scar me so deeply, That yours will have been, The only fingers to ever touch me. November 2000 |
I think that the loss of the innocence of childhood is one of the hardest parts of dealing with childhood sexual abuse and other forms of child abuse. I know from my own experience that I lost a lot, if not all, of my childhood, or at least it feels like I have, and that hurts a lot. What hurts more is perhaps knowing that I can never get that back and all I have is bad memories of being a child when they should have been good, happy times for everyone. Please read the information in this section carefully as I think that it is very important for everyone to know about abuse and its after-affects. I hope that it is helpful and comforting for those who have been abused and informative for those who are perhaps trying to help someone who has been abused or just find out more information. If you are an abuse survivor please take your time reading, as it may be hard. There is nothing wrong with stopping and coming back to it later, when you feel more able to handle it. |
