Welcome to Hell, looking for someone's mother perhaps? JB=8)

But in all seriousness, hell is a frighteningly real place, complete with suits of flame. One may visit this place of torture (sp?) (or karmic cleansing if that makes you feel better) for several lifetimes if one wishes to follow the immoral ways of man that is evident in this, the Iron Age, but it takes a great imbalance of karmas to deserve it. Hell is a place for those who transgressions are so great that the punishments cannot be made manifest here on earth.

Heaven too exists, on varying levels. Both are in the astral region. You may go there as a reward for good deeds done in this and/or other lives (also karmic cleansing) but those heavens also called paradise are temporary, and are not the true homes of souls, nor are they the place where God Himself lives. To get to that high region, which is called Satch Kand, one must burn all karmas and be connected with the audible sound current (Shabd) in order to ascend.

If there is a hell, then there must be a devil. Satan, means literally, the adversary. He is just that! The devil's job is to make it as difficult as possible to reach our true home, to keep our souls here, in the cycle of births and deaths. He does this mostly by infecting the mind with the five passions: ego, anger, lust, pride, and attachment. If one cuts one's ego off, then the other four will fall of as well. Ego is the keystone. If one's mind has an ego then it is his greatest enemy; if ones mind has no ego, then the mind will become his greatest tool. If one has no ego, then he will gather no karma for his actions as they will be selfless, and with the proper meditation, one can burn the remaining karma and follow the sound current to the true home.

I've heard it said that the devil's greatest trick was making the world think he didn't exist. I say it's that he made the world think he is God, for the devil portrays the god of justice, god of the world, and the supreme being of dualities. He is all of those. His power and authority extends to all places that have both matter and time.

Lust is the weakest of the five passions, but without sex our race would cease to exist. That’s why the union known as marriage was created. Sex itself has two purposes: procreation and to enhance the bond between partners. Marriage is meant to legitimize sex in God’s Omnisentient eyes. It is a ritual to be performed only once in a lifetime. Homosexuality is seen as a bad habit. Habits take fourteen days to make or break, but cannot break a habit by act of will alone. You must substitute one thing for another. Avoid pornography, love the one you’re willing to spend the rest of your life with, or wait for your soulmate, don’t go seeking the other sex. Fate can tend to that.

Anger is the next weakest passion. Focus on the third eye when angry, and reason will take over. Violence is not a solution to anything, it shocks the soul of victim, and is no go for the karma of the doer. There is almost always a solution other than violence. The almost part is left for self-defense. We are allowed to defend our self, with deadly force if necessary, but only if necessary. The greatest remedy for anger is delay. Please don’t spank your children.

Attachment is the middle passion. All things in time will come to an end. Every lifetime we go where are attachments laid in our last life. Attachment is our desire to keep the things we have or to get the things we want. By having such desires we bond our self to the region our desires can be fulfilled on. Only by desiring only to be home can we rid ourselves of this passion.

Pride or vanity is the next to last individual passion that needs to be broken. It is our sense of accomplishment in the world. Often that sense is a false one, as though we did something, when in fact it is the divine being that did the work through us. He made our bodies, gave the energy, and the mind to carry out the works. Our bodies are a refection of our personality. Our face shows others how we are. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Ego is sense of being different. We are souls, no different from one another. Everything in our life tells us that we are individuals. When we put down such thinking, and accept that we are God’s children, essentially giving up our sense of free will, and surrender to his will completely we will eventually defeat the ego. By defeating I mean it will leave along with the other passions. Brief spurts of control will not eliminate it completely.

The mind is like a little child, needing discipline at ever turn. If we do not tend to it, it will go out in every direction it pleases attempting vainly to satisfy the passions it is slave to. When focused it can be gathered up into the third eye so that the shabd may take the mind up it’s true home where it will be infinitely happy. At that point death will no longer be feared, and the soul will be free to travel to higher realms where it can eventually reach it's true home as well, but that can only be done if that soul has a perfect guide who already knows the way.

Alcohol; hard or mind altering drugs; immoral activities such as pre-marital sex, theft, lying; and the animal diet all greatly increase the mind's ability to wander and the karma the soul must pay for, and greatly decreases the mind's ability to focus making it imposable to go within. One must cease all of those activities if one wishes to be with God, wishes to cease wandering the ever-suffering world, and wishes to be permanently happy.

The precious gift of the human life is not guaranteed to come again. If not acted upon now, the opportunity to ascend may never come again. Salvation is offered only to humans, no other animal or plant can ascend to Satch Kand, neither can the angels or gods reach that high station; they all pine for the human existence.
