I expect to pass through this world but once. Any
good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that
I can show to my fellow-creature, let me do it now.
Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass
this way again.  ~Stephen Grellet~

Hello God
(Author Unknown)

Hello God, I called tonight
To talk a little while..
I need a friend who'll listen
To my anxiety and trial...

You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me,
So I'll never feel alone

I want to ask you please to keep,
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they're bound.

Give me faith, dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.

I thank you God, for being home
And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall.

Your number, God, is the only one
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.

So thank you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You, too,
And I'll call again tomorrow!

"When God says No"

I asked God to take away my pride,
and God said "no".

He said it was not for Him to take away,
but for me to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped
child whole,
and God said "no".

He said her spirit is whole,
her body is Only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience,
and God said "no".

He said that patience is a by-product
of trials and tribulations.
It isn't granted, it's learned.

I asked God to give me happiness,
and God said "no".

He said He gives me blessings,
happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain,
and God said "no".

He said "suffering draws you apart
from worldly cares and brings
you closer to me."

I asked God for all things that I
might enjoy life,
and God said "no".

He said " I will give you life that
you might enjoy all things."

I asked God to help me love others
as much as He loves me,
and God said,

"Ah, finally you have the idea!"

Parable of the Rose

A certain man planted a rose and watered
it faithfully and before it blossomed, he
examined it.  He saw the bud that would
soon blossom, but noticed thorns upon
the stem and he thought, "How can any
beautiful flower come from a plant
burdened with so many sharp thorns?"

Saddened by this thought, he neglected
to water the rose, and before it was
ready to bloom, it died.

So it is with many people. Within every
soul there is a rose. The Godlike qualities
planted in us at birth growing amid
the thorns of our faults. Many of us look
at ourselves and see only the thorns, the
defects. We despair, thinking that
nothing good can possibly come from
us. We neglect to water the good within
us, and eventually it dies.
We never realize our potential.

Some people do not see the rose within
themselves; someone else must show
it to them. One of the greatest
gifts a person can possess is to be able
to reach past the thorns and find the
rose within others.

This is the characteristic of love ~ to look
at a person and know their true faults.
Accepting that person into your life,
while recognizing the nobility in their soul.
Help them to realize that they can overcome
their faults. If we show them the rose, they
will conquer their thorns.  Only then will
they blossom many times over.

Within every soul there is a rose ~

God's Great Outdoors
by B.H. Fisher

There is a place on earth for us,
Where sparkling water pours,
O'er rocks and sands of wilderness;
It's called God's great outdoors.
"Here is the home of fighting fish,
Dens where the bruin snores,
Huge mountain crests where eagles seek
To share God's great outdoors.
Yes, here is where the wild game roams,
Where gypsy bird life soars.
Where the sun, the wind, the rain, and snow
Meet in God's great outdoors.
Here's where the din of raging storms
Is hushed by tranquil shores,
Where life and death are next of kin,
Mixed in God's great outdoors.
